Re: Loose Wire - Help!!

I have normal braces. The wire came out on mine once and I managed to use tweezers to feed it back in. This was when the wire was still a reasonably pliable one. I don't think it's possible with a square wire like have now.

Re: When do adjustments stop hurting?

I'm 17 months in braces and my last adjustment was so strong that my teeth still hurt two weeks later. In fact, it was the most pain I've had so far :( In my opinion your teeth will continue to ache while your teeth are being moved forcefully. It just depends on how much pressure your ortho puts on ...

Re: Waterpik or Airfloss?

I came across an article about waterfloss being significantly better than airfloss.

Thanks for your replies guys, I ordered one :)

Re: Is it normal for TMJ to get worse when you have braces?

Some of my TMJ symptoms are much worse since I've been in braces. Mainly terrible neck ache, facial pressure and headaches, so painful they can keep me awake at night. I do yoga to relieve the knots in my neck and shoulders when it is at its worst. Strangely enough since I've had the braces I haven'...

Re: Three broken brackets in seven weeks?

I've never (in 16 moths) had a bracket come off and my adjustments are really brutal!
I have had a molar band come loose once though.
In my (unprofessional) opinion, that is a very large number of times for a seven week period. What has your ortho to say about it? Did he/she give a reason?

Sorry Carl, I can't answer your question. I just wanted to say 'good for you' on deciding to go for it. Most of my family and friends think I'm nuts! :) good luck

Re: Crowded teeth

I had a very crowded mouth caused by supernumerary teeth and small jaws, so since I was 13 I have had many, many teeth pulled. Including all four wisdoms. I only have 26 teeth (because that is all there is room for!). I wore a Quadhelix for 16 months to expand the size of my upper jaw So I suppose i...

Waterpik or Airfloss?

Which does everyone recommend to be the best cleaner? A Waterpik or an Airflosser? I find that I'm not doing a good enough job with flossing between my molar bands and they occasionally bleed whan I floss. I've decided to try something new to get my gums into better health! So which do you recommend...

Re: Bit of a panic! Wobbly teeth.

Thank you for your reply. It's quite reassuring. I'm a little less panicky now. I think it was just the initial shock of seeing those teeth wiggle a little bit for the first time. As long as it is normal for teeth to be wobbly at any time during the braces and not just in the first couple of months,...

Re: Bit of a panic! Wobbly teeth.

I should have added that the adjustment I had on the 15th was bad so I had a second adjustment on the 17th.
The adjustments were quite brutal this time and I was fitted with very strong thick wires. And my teeth are still slightly tender ten days on.
I'm just being paranoid aren't I?

Bit of a panic! Wobbly teeth.

I know that slightly wobbly teeth are to be expected with braces but can anyone give more details about when it should become a worry? I'm in month 16 now, it is ten days since my last adjustment and I noticed that a few of my teeth are a little wobbly. Its the first time i have actually noticed it....

Re: Nasal blockages and jaw deformities

@Beebop That's good to know! :D Looks like I'm having the same surgeries as you too. Ill make sure when I eventually see my surgeon again, to ask him as much as I can on this. Especially since I have never mentioned my breathing troubles to him so far. (Also like you I'm a mouth breather when I slee...

Can upper jaw advancement cause a gummy smile?

Hello, I'm due to have double-jaw surgery and genioplasty this year, to correct an underbite. I was wondering if anyone knows if moving the upper jaw forward will result in a gummy smile. I'm not expecting to see my surgeon in the next few months and any responses would be most appreciated (hopefull...
