Re: The mighty King of Post-Op Beverage Implements!

I've been using thin disposable cups. I found I couldn't use anything that was thick!
Also - no washing up required :)

Re: One week after LeFort I... *sigh*

*sigh* is spot on for me too. I am 9 days post double jaw and genio, the liquid diet is so depressing. Luckily for my I was given to all clear for mushy foods yesterday. I ate a huge portion of cheese topped cottage pie and it was so good! I hope you feel happier soon :) Are you happy with your resu...

Re: Should I be worried? 6weeks post op Underbite

If it is uncomfortable you should ask to be seen by your ortho. On the off chance that something isn't right, your ortho would prefer you to bring it to their attention to fix the problem before it gets worse - my motto is 'rather be safe than sorry'

I hope your recovery improves :)

A big thank you

Tomorrow is the day I have waited 15 years for. Double jaw surgery and genio. I am very nervous now. It is a very strange feeling both wanting something dreadfully yet fearing it at the same time. Tomorrow my massive underbite will be a thing of the past. I'm scared that the emotions will overwhelm ...

Re: Starting to get scared

Thanks for replying :) I do have 100% confidence in my surgeon - I've been told that the hospital im at has the best Maxillofacial doctors in the country. I'm not afraid that there will be a problem. But I can't seem to get rid of the anxiety or stress or whatever it is that is making my moods soar ...

Re: "Shorter, more comfortable, surgery hooks"

I am having my surgery the day after you!
Although I had my hooks fitted weeks ago. I don't find them uncomfortable, but for the first few days it felt like I had loads of food stuck in my braces. And I keep on fiddling with the hooks too (I know I shouldn't!)
Good luck for Tuesday :)

Re: Should I wait to start ortho treatment?

I can't offer a professional opinion, but if I were you I would wait until the insurance is approved. Waiting a few months for peace of mind is nothing. Imagine how stressed you would be if the insurance wasn't approved. If I were you I would absolutely wait. 4 months isn't so far away (I waited 2 y...

Re: So many questions :/

I have a very large underbite, as a teenager an ortho straightened my top teeth and left my lower teeth (as straightening them would've made my underbite a lot worse). My parents refused the surgery which the ortho had originally insisted I really needed done. At 18 years old I had the braces remove...

Starting to get scared

Four years I have been waiting for my double jaw surgery. I have been so impatient. But now it is only four days away I am becoming very afraid - I'm not even sure why I'm scared. I keep on picking fights with my family and friends and becoming overly emotional. I am feeling quite alone (even though...

Re: How long does each visit to the orthodontist last?

You should be happy, some of my adjustments have been epic - lasting over an hour. By the end of it I'm sweating and trembling with stress. Also, it hurts having to keep your mouth wide open for an hour! What's worse is when you have two adjustments close together and your teeth are still hurting fo...

Re: Nasal blockages and jaw deformities

Found out last week that my surgeon will perform a 'Turbinectomy' at the same time as my bimax and genio - he reckons my breathing will definitely improve :)

Re: Surgery hooks

These are my surgical hooks - had them fitted two weeks ago. They don't hurt at all, but for the first few days it felt like I had loads of food stuck in my braces! Sorry for the extra large pic - no idea how to adjust the size! :/ http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_SHsNA_nIXk/Ug4CoQU_qCI/AAAAAAAAAm0/isqs11...

Re: Braces on Short Rooted Teeth

Hi everyone, I thought I would follow up this thread with my own personal experience for anyone else wondering the same question in future. I am now 24 months in braces and two weeks away from double jaw surgery and genio, at my last appointment my orthodontist compared my first X-rays with my most ...
