Re: 6 month braces.

I just did a brief update today, as it happens. I had planned to do more, but a kitchen renovation got in the way.

Re: Braces in mid-life intro

Good luck, Mickey. I had braces as a teen and it all ended up perfect, only to be shoved out of place when my wisdom teeth came in. Back in the 80's they didn't seem to be too interested in life long retainers. Sigh.

So I'm 4 months into the Six Month Smiles treatment, at age 43.

Re: 6 month braces.

I've got Six Month Smiles and have my 4 month check up tomorrow. My original estimate of treatment time was 9 months. My teeth have moved fast and at the 3 month check up my dentist said I may be able to be debraced tomorrow. That's not going to happen as I'm not 100% happy with the current position...

Re: Braces Off, Teeth moving already??

Given the amount of movement one can get within hours of an adjustment I would say it is normal. I also believe that retainers can do a small amount of remedial work. However, if you are worried, call your ortho before Friday.

Re: Do I have Long Face Syndrome? (pic attached)

I wondered if that was the issue. Yes, your lips are prominent on your profile but imo not in an ugly way. If your teeth were pulled back a bit I imagine that would lessen the prominence of the lips but I'm no expert.

Re: Might have left it a bit late for braces.

I'm 43, living in Essex, and I had 6 Month Smiles put in at the end of April this year. I am having both arches done at a cost of £2,500 payable interest free over a year. I did not tell anyone except my husband that I was having braces put in as I wanted to see what people would say. Most people do...

Re: Did I EAT myt bracket??

Could your ortho have removed the bracket and not told you?

Mine removed one at the last visit. I thought I was going nuts so I rang to check and he had indeed removed one without telling me.

I don't understand what you think is wrong with your profile.

Re: Triangular gap between front teeth

Your dentist may be able to build up the corners with some kind of bonding.

Alternatively you could see if the ortho can do some IPR at the top of the teeth so they can be brought closer together.

Re: in panic.. my widsom tooth erupts while wearing braces.

Take advice from the ortho. Better they erupt now whilst you are braced than later and possibly ruin all the good work (which is what happened to me)

Re: Powerchain-Yellow :-(

Although curry is absolutely the worst, many things stain, and I find the yellow colour builds up over time. I can't usually put my finger on exactly what has done it, unless I have had a curry. With curry, even if I cut everything up really, really small, and put every piece to my back teeth, and c...

Re: Most Difficult Foods to Eat

I cannot eat sandwiches in public unless I have cutlery. It is very frustrating as I have had a few business meetings over lunch where sandwiches have been provided. I have just had to look at them and go hungry. :(

Re: When should I get them off?

Looking really good!

From the pic it looks like the lower archwire still has a bit of a kink in it on the left hand side at least (your left, right in the picture) so a bit more movement may be needed there.

Re: should i get them off now?

If there is more that the ortho can do without doing the extractions then I would probably go with that. The suggestion of IPR may help you. If the ortho cannot do any more without extractions, and is not really recommending the extractions, then how about having the braces off to see how you go for...
