Re: 2.5 years of braces on, premolars leaning in
It is rather disappointing to feel a problem has been created by what was supposed to fix your problems. My orthodontist does not communicate either and after 2 years 9 months of being patient I exploded. I suggest you try to be calm yet assertive and persist with your question until you get a satis...

Re: Is my orthodontist getting rid of me?
.......the denture bit was a joke!!!!!! But I'm really, really bored by now! I'm tired of the cleaning routine so much that I'm avoiding eating so that I can do with just a quick brush during the day!
Does anyone else get this feeling?

Re: Is my orthodontist getting rid of me?
Finally I called the clinic and the orthodontist saw me yesterday. He accepted my apologies and said that I didn't have to worry. He continued working on my slanting canine teeth on the lower jaw, I haven't seen much movement yet but I'm very sore, so something must be happening. He suggested I call...

Re: Is my orthodontist getting rid of me?
Thanks to all for your comments. There definitely has been a communication problem throughout because he doesn't like being asked questions....I always used to get replies such as we'll have to see, or it depends or we're getting there so I stopped asking questions altogether. When I said in my post...

Re: Ortho repositioned bracket. Teeth uneven.
My orthodontist pulled up a tooth by bending the archwire upwards on both sides of it. The tooth did move up.

Is my orthodontist getting rid of me?
I've been in braces for two years nine months. My initial sentence was a year. I've been having problems throughout both with the SL brackets and the metal ones. I never ever complained. My teeth have improved greatly but still need some fine tuning. Anyway during the adjustment before last it seems...

Re: Stains!
My clear ligatures and power chain became bright yellow when I ate real indian curry. Normal curry mixture had less staining effect. At the moment I'm eating a lot of pomegranate which also stains but I try to push them to the back of my mouth so I managed not to stain the clear ligatures and clear ...

Re: Does lipstick stain the clean ceramic ligs?
Surely doesn't stain the brackets and I don't think it stains the ligatures. But it smears onto the brackets making them more visible. I haven't used any coloured lipstick or lip balm since I've had my clear brackets. At the moment I have a power chain on all my upper self ligating brackets so it's ...

Re: How are the front teeth pulled back and gaps eliminated?
Hi secretsmile! I can't understand how it happens either. I have a similar situation to yours on my upper jaw, an overbite and a premolar on either side extracted to correct it. My question is are the teeth only pulled backwards or is the gum somewhat pushed backwards too? At the moment I have devel...

Re: Terrified of extractions & a long time until next visit!
Hi sds4h! Having teeth extracted is no big deal at all. It's more the thought of removing a tooth which will never grow back that is a bit daunting. But no pain at all. First the dentist sprays some cold anesthetic over the gum then more anaesthetic is injected. You don't feel the syringe needle goi...

Re: 30+ Mom on Braces
Most people on this forum are older than you! I'm 39. I wanted to have a beautiful smile for my 40th birthday but it seems I'm going to be braced throughout my 40th year! My orthodontist says that no age is too old for braces! So nothing to worry about! Good luck!

Re: Treatment way longer than expected...severely depressed
Wow! This really sounds like a difficult ordeal! So sorry for you! I can't really say what I would do if I was in your position.....but usually I like to finish what I start....but 4 years is difficult. I'm a bit annoyed because my ortho had said 1 year for my lower teeth and a year later my lower t...

Does overbite correction always result in face elongation?!
I was reading some older posts about overbite correction and face elongation. Someone wrote it elongates the lower third part of the face. Is this true? Is it always the case? I thought correcting an overbite would make the upper teeth look flatter and this would give the illusion of a rounder face....

Re: braces questions: new to braces
Are you taking pain killers? Sometimes it's the only way out of brace pain! Cold water helps too! But don't worry it will get better with time. I only feel real pain after adjustments now. However I still find the brackets irritate the inside of my lip...but this is more annoying than painful!
