Re: OK--This was not the plan!

Hey BIP!!!---I hope you see this post--it was so nice to see your comments!! I don't come here very often anymore either. I know I said I would, but once I got my braces off, it was like I never had them...very weird!! And most of the people posting now are all newbies--everyone else kind of quits p...

Re: Struggling with my quail elastics

I had elastics the entire 2 years I was in braces, starting with Quail elastics. IMO, I really don't believe you need to keep them in when you eat--and you will end up swallowing a ton of them if you do leave them in while eating. I know I did! Take them out just before eating, brush immediately aft...

Re: Braces off Friday BUT...

AMAZING!!!! I think a lot of people go thru that "I wonder if they should come off yet" phase that starts just before you get them off.... I did....I couldn't believe how wrong I was!!!

Congrats to you!! :-)o :-)o :-)o

Re: Can Essix retainers make you sick?

Ok so my nausea was caused by a change in meds.... I do soak my retainer in new cleaner every time I take the Essix out of my mouth. Occasionally, I think my mind is just telling me that the Essix is making me gaggy....

Another learning experience.....

Re: forsus compliance

OK--I had the Forsus. It was a challenge to be honest, but very much worth it. It's not so much wearing the Forsus--it's that it fell apart constantly, and I never knew if it was just me or that something was wrong with the appliance.. One time it was an actual defect in the one of the replacement p...

Re: ORTHO might remove braces next month. I'm not ready?? (P

I think your teeth look great! When I was going to get my braces off I was really unsure about it. My ortho just said "trust me, you will like them". Well, the braces came off, and he spent a long time shaping etc. I was so afraid to lift up my head to look in the mirror. OMG!!! :-* One of the best ...

Re: Help -- Molar Band Edges Are Shredding My Tongue

Tell your ortho every little thing that is bugging you!! They can do sooooo many things that you are not aware can be done. If they are not going to use the lingual cleats, they may very well grind them down. Mine did. What a relief!! Also, you really need to let the ortho know about the sharp molar...

Re: Retainers

I've had the Essix which I got within a 1/2 hr or so of debanding. I can talk or whatever with no problems at all when I wear the retainer. The hardest part for me is how dry my mouth feels with them on. My ortho only has me wearing mine at night. He told me that he tells almost everyone 24/7 becaus...

Re: Braces at 55

Hey Vy-- I got braces at 55 and just got them off last April at 57...so 2 yrs in braces...Damon Q all metal. Having them in public wasn't a big deal at all. I never got made fun of even once (that I know of) and kids are the most accepting (!). Most of the time, people just say they wish they had or...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!

Congratulations Jill!!! Finally done--it's such a feeling of accomplishment! The essix retainer is fine. I only have to wear it at night. The ortho made it so the gumline edges of the retainer were completely comfortable before I left. I barely notice it now, I'm so used to it being a part of my nig...

Re: Now that it's over, looking back and some advice

Really great post!! I would just say DON'T GIVE UP!! I was so ashamed to smile before Damon all-metal self-ligating braces changed my life!! I smile--a lot. I get compliments--A LOT. It is sooooo fun!! I've shared this before--I was eating with several people post-braces. Someone said to me what I t...

Re: Can Essix retainers make you sick?

I have had the same thing!! I have been so nauseous that I have gotten 2 different types of anti-nausea meds since I got my braces off, but I never even considered that it could be my Essix. I clean it obsessively, so it's clean.....hmmmm...interesting!

Re: Finally getting started with my treatment. So nervous!

I got my braces at 55 and got them off in April--at 57...ya, it was hard at times--BUT DON'T GIVE UP!! It was the BEST decision of my life. NOT KIDDING!. I have gotten so many compliments. I was taken back with the first compliment--I didn't know they were talking about MY teeth!! IT IS WORTH EVERY ...
