So I tried to make a consult

I was finally ready to take the leap... I made the call to an ortho/tmj guy for braces. The receptionist asked about my issues, and I explained both the overbite, front teeth pain & wearing down, shifting/crowded teeth and TMJ problems. She said she'd schedule me for a TMJ consult only.... What?! $2...

Re: Whenever I go for adjustments I realise....

I havent gotten braced yet.. I hope I can soon :( Anyways, I had a friend with braces. He would usually be fine most of the month, but every month or two like clockwork he'd begin lisping and spitting more(when talking). Course it was only obvious cause he'd say "sorry guys, I just had an adjustment...

Re: Ortho Chipped my tooth!

Sorry to hear about all this happening to you.

On a good note, if you have dental insurance it covers restoration of chipped teeth (with bonding). I chipped a tooth and was able to have it restored to better than it looked before the chip, my insurance paid in full.

Re: Has anyone used GC TOOTH MOUSSE???

I havent used it, but it sounds promising... Some information I found http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Recaldent http://www.gcindiadental.com/images/documents/tooth_mousse_portfolio.pdf GC Tooth Mousse has been involved in some clinical testing back in 07-08 to see if it helps sensitivity. But I cannot ...

Re: Just got braces and confused about some things

I could use some help understanding things. I got my braces yesterday. My ortho explained things during my consult but I can't remember all of what he said. I wish I would've taken notes. My upper teeth slant in towards my tongue. Is there an orthodontic term for this? My upper front teeth were sli...

Re: Why do adults get braces if results don't last?

Partially due to retainer use and the old thought. My mom had 7 years of ortho work done and wore a retainer for almost a year before losing it. She had a tiny microscopic bit of relapse but you can still tell she has amazingly straight teeth and perfect bite. Lucky her? Also, I've read retention of...

Yes, totally normal depending on your ortho's plans.

Re: Can invisalign correct overbites?

Thanks for all the replies, and sorry for the delay. I starting watching metal mouth forum. Im in the process of saving up for my braces and being generally financially prepared. I've decided it's best to go to a good orthodontist either way (metal or invisible) since I have bite problems. I really ...

Re: My FAVORITE PROTEIN SHAKE!!!!!

My fave is metabolic drive. I used to drink it a lot during weight loss as it tasted amazing and had only about 4g carbs. It's (now) only available online though, used to be sold in GNC for twice the price.

Re: Anyone here ever get any bonding done on your teeth??

I chipped a front tooth last summer horribly. %50 of the front of my central incisor was gone, the back remained. It was extremely traumatic emotionally, I was crying for days thinking it would be impossible to fix. I went to a cosmetic dentist and I had excellent bonding done. On the downside, my s...

Re: ABO - is it important?

[quote="ashesgap"]You should call the orthos office and ask them specifically if he's a member and if he is, why isn't he on the website. Better for your piece of mind that way. And figure out how much that matters to you...with all his other good aspects. One of the hardest parts is just finding th...

ABO - is it important?

Im looking into an orthodontist, which has been a problem. So I've gone to the ABO directory(American Board of Orthodontics. I've found one Ortho with beyond excellent feedback locally, and his website claims he's an ABO diplomate. But when I look him up on the ABO website he cannot be found (not by...

Re: For those that use(d) FSA

Thanks for the reply. That's actually very interesting and gives me some hope for lowering braces cost(pre tax) but also giving me the ability to save up for them. The more I begin to learn about spending accounts the more I like them. It would be harder for me to set aside $xxx a month to save up a...
