Re: Patients with wax

I've had braces for almost 16 months and need wax once in a while. In fact I had to put some on today because my bottom front brackets are giving me a little water blister thing that's sore. Who knows why today? You just never know when things will start irritating your mouth.

Re: Dental cleaning and braces - how does YOUR dentist do it

My hygienist does my cleaning with everything intact. She might tight off my bumpers this time but I could even do that myself before I get there. It was suggested to me to go twice as often for cleanings since braces can attract and hold more plaque. So I go 4 times each year. 2 for cleaning, 2 for...

Re: Another braces story

It's bee about 6 since the ortho did his work and I SWEAR the tooth that had the bracket repositioned has already started to move. I SWEEEEEEAAAAAR it. The last photo I have is from Dec. 28 but I've been looking at my teeth long enough, and there's been little enough movement to memorize where every...

Re: Another braces story

Back from the ortho. Had front bottom bracket moved up a smudge and a thinner wire put in to help bring that tooth down. Now have bumpers on front two teeth and both molars at the back on the bottom. My teeth don't touch anywhere so no burgers for me for at least 6 weeks. No elastics for now because...

Re: How successfully can braces drive teeth down into your g

They're pretty successful, I'd say. I'm having my bottom teeth pushed back into my jaw too. The ortho moved a few brackets up higher on certain teeth once they started to straighten out. That bends the wire up which in turn pulls the tooth down as the wire straightens out. So it does happen! Takes a...

Re: Another braces story

Another ortho visit. Powerchains are off. Have to wear an elastic on the left side only now, 24-7, to get my midlines right. Was told at the next visit the Dr. would take my bottom wire out and torque it a bit to start evening my bottom teeth out. Back in 4 weeks. Boring update but this is a good pl...

Re: Another braces story

<rant> Nuts. Just brushed my teeth after lunch and noticed a new blotch of tartar on the bottom tooth that had the SAME kind of blotch LAST YEAR, almost TO THE DAY. WTF? Not going back for a cleaning until the beginning of Feb so now I get to fret over this for two more months. It's right near the g...

Re: Braces and Plaque-unpredictable

I drink water all day so I don't think that's my problem. I really think it's just random unpleasantness.

Re: Braces and Plaque-unpredictable

I wouldn't even DARE try scaling my teeth myself! Too much risk damaging my teeth or gums, I'll leave that to the professionals. But good luck to you doing it! I use a little proxie brush at night after I've brushed with a regular brush. Just sometimes I get more build up between cleanings that othe...

Braces and Plaque-unpredictable

I go for a dental cleaning every 3 months since the braces went on. But I find that plaque build up is really unpredictable. Sometimes between visits my teeth hardly get "dirty" and they look pretty good. And sometimes just a month after a scaling it looks like I could use another one, I can see gre...

Re: Another braces story

Appointment #13, I think. Whatever. Fresh powerchains. The assistant seems to have twisted each loop between the brackets for some reason. Still have to wear elastics. Note to self: right side, daytime, bottom molar to top canine. Both sides, nighttime, bottom molars to top canines. They oughtta giv...

Re: dark stains after braces

I had weird staining like that during my first 2 months. My first cleaning after 2 months in braces was like night and day! Since then it's every 3 months back to get another cleaning and I haven't had those crazy dark stains like the first time.

You could do it twice since you technically have 2 brace days!

http://www.leighyoung.com/extras/Teeth/first_day.jpg http://www.leighyoung.com/extras/Teeth/12_months.jpg 1 year to the day yesterday, 1 year to the date today. How's about that?
