Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Luke, have you tried using some saline nasal spray? I've found it to be helpful. I even used a spray decongestant (Afrin) one time and that helped, too. With Afrin, though, you have to be careful or you can get rebound congestion, but with just one time I had no problem. I feel for you! That is one ...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

bracefaced, sorry the pain is bad today. I'm not as numb as I though I would be either, but the pain is manageagle. I have a very sore TMJ on the right side. I hope heat will help that out. As far as swelling goes, romancommander, my nose isn't that bad. Not too far off from my pre-surgery nose. But...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Oh, yeah, had to share this: I was trying to "help" by washing my robe and Pjs, and I washed my cellphone. It was in my pocket! It was a new one, too! No more helping, until the fog lifts!

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

I hope you can get Carnation instant breakfast in the UK, Luke. It doesn't taste anything like Ensure, I don't like Ensure, either! It comes in several flavors, mixes with milk, so you can pick low fat, or full fat milk for calories. I mix mine rather weak right now--you really should try it---And i...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Well, looks like I am the first one up this am. How did everyone sleep? I was able to sleep between all med doses, so I am pleased with that. Makes the night go so much faster. One side of my nose is back into working order. The other side (not sure if this is the side with the anesthesia tube) has ...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Right now, just trying to figure out how to swallow, breathe, and cope. I haven't thought much about being wired just yet. I'm sure not hungry. Have to force myself to take in even small amounts. Good luck with sleeping, tonight, everyone!

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Lots of trouble breathing here. Very little nose-breathing going on. My mouth feels like a super-dry cave. It helps to hold a damp washcloth over your mouth lightly--gets a little moisture in there. Hang in there Luke. I think we will all turn the corner sometime this weekend! Please! Please! Please!

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

How's everyone doing today? I got my nose unclogged a little with lots of steam, saline nasal spray, and q-tips and hydrogen peroxide. I've been very careful, though, and have had no excess bleeding. Don't really feel like eating yet, but I'm drinking water. Hopefully, will feel like having somethin...

Good luck to everyone up for surgery this week! I will be checking into the hospital tomorrow morning as well, with surgery at 11:00.

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

Luke, I think of that--only 3 more days!!! So you will be wired shut? I will be banded shut completely for 6 weeks too. Doesn't look like my OS negotiates on that issue at all. That's OK, I feel like I am in good hands, so 6 weeks it is! I'm glad there are so many of us May buddies--that will be a b...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

@ Sams: Glad everything went well! How is the recovery going? @ May buddies: How are the nerves holding up? I'm trying to stay busy, and I'm outwardly calm...but my thoughts constantly stray to the surgery on Tuesday. Yesterday was my last work day before my surgery. Staying busy this weekend, getti...

Re: MAY 2011 BUDDIES!!!!

I asked about a turbinectomy because it had been initially mentioned, but wasn't on the consent that I signed. Apparently, for my OS anyway, it is kind of an automatic part of the procedure. He explained that with a maxillary impaction, the re-positioning of things can cause the turbinates to then b...
