Leanna- I did a quick measurement, and I *think* my overjet is around 6.35 mm (around 1/4"); somewhere between 6.35 and 7 mm. (I put the tape measurer at the top of my lower front teeth and measured straight out to the tip of the upper teeth that jut out. Is that the right way? haha I had to go onli...

Congrats on being braced! I'm 36 and taking the plunge next week (and I think you responded on my other thread). If you don't mind my asking, what is the measurement of your overjet? Reason I ask is that I'm *hoping* to end up with teeth like yours when I'm done. I have crowding, overjet, and narro...

Hi Cathy! No...I was instructed not to floss the teeth where the spacers are. I do not have pain when eating...just tenderness. I guess some people have more pain than others...but in the end...we'll have the smile we always wanted. Hopefully your molar bands will go on without problems. I am nervo...

Congrats!!!! You may absolutely use a WaterPik with braces. Just make sure you don't point it directly at your gums, so you won't hurt them. I don't own one, but I've heard it can be fairly messy the first few times you use it. It's also not a replacement for flossing, so remember... FLOSS, FLOSS, F...

Just to clarify: When you talk about flossing, you're not flossing where the spacers are, right? Just the other teeth that are probably getting pushed together because of the spacers? I'm glad you're not feeling any "pain" per se. You do almost forget they're there. I do play with them a lot with my...

Thanks, Ken! I just had my first "mishap" today. One of my bracket doors opened somehow. After a few minutes, I figure out it close from the bottom-up, so I went ahead and shut it, and... IT HURT LIKE HELL! The worst pain I've felt since all this started. I've learned I'm supposed to support the too...

Welcome Luly! I completely understand your anxiety about the extractions. I, too, had all 4 of my impacted wisdoms extracted about 10 years ago. I had them done 2 at a time so I would be able to eat out of one side of my mouth. The two on the right were NO problem at all. No swelling, pain, nothing....

OMG - I was just going to post this very same question! Just got my braces last Friday, and over the weekend I was just sitting around, minding my own business... when I heard AND felt a very obvious "click" on/around my front bottom teeth. I freaked out and was so excited and thought "THEY'RE MOVIN...

Okay, folks, I survived my first full weekend post-bracing. I can honestly say that I haven't had any pain whatsoever. A little bit of pressure, and some "tingling" feeling on my lower front teeth, but nothing more. Even the minimal chafing from the brackets seems to have gone away (for now, anyway)...

Maybe this is an ignorant question, but... why can't you take your waterpik and mouthwash with you? I have to carry everything in a single backpack. Mouthwash is quite heavy, as is the waterpik. Not to mention, it won't work overseas anyway because plugs/number of amps is different. Oh, okay. DUH! ...

Good luck to you, Meemoo! You teeth/overjet look a lot like mine, and we have a similar treatment plan (upper and lower metals w/extractions, though mine is just one... I HOPE!) I got my brackets and wires done already, except for the one tooth that's going to be yanked. Yes, you will find that the ...

Because I ended up getting self-ligating brackets, I don't have to worry about staining ligs. However, I do have 4 spacers in my teeth, one of which could not be properly positioned due to the closeness of my teeth, so it's kind of "sticking up". Well, I ate some Top Ramen (Chicken flavored) and it ...

Oh, the irony... This thread kept me entertained for HOURS thinking of what cool colored ligs I could get. Turns out I end up with Damon SL metal that don't need ligs after all. They said they'd put them on for me if I wanted them, but only on the front four teeth so there wouldn't be too muc...
