The thing about it is that there is not even enough to bend. The wire comes out the back of the bracket and they literally take wire cutter tool to cut it off. Its not sticking out far at all, but is razor sharp. When I stick my finger in there to like clear out food when eating or anything, it wil...

Try asking them if they can twist the end of it in the opposite direction, like more towards the front. I am not fully wired yet, so I have wires that don't go all the way back, and the tech just bent the wire in sort of a "U" shape back towards the front of the tooth. It sticks out a bit now becaus...

Okay, I am officially one tooth less today.
All done! All my worry and anxiety were all for nothing (as usual). Doc looked at my xray and my teeth and said, “Oh, this should be a piece of cake.” He also said that as long as I had some ibuprofen at home, that should be all I need for pain, as this is a pretty straight-forward extraction. So, n...

That's the spirit, Mimi! I'm finding that in all actuality, people DO NOT give a hoot whether or not you have braces. I've made comments here and there to people who don't know I have them, and when I point them out, the reaction I get is mainly, "Oh..." and that's it! No questions, no comments. The...

You have beautiful colored teeth :) Thank you. I had to read your comment a couple of times to make sure I read it correctly. I hope you meant that my teeth were a nice "white-ish" color... right? I was going to be a smart aleck and ask you "What color?" They're really not white - I think it's the ...

Aloha, HeyBuckey! I spent the longest time at work yesterday reading your thread, and enjoyed it immensely. I am a fellow “Buckey”, as you can see from the pics in my story. Your post describing your extraction day was very timely, as I’m scheduled to get MY top-left premolar extracted tomorrow morn...

Great! As long as you can feel things, progress is being made. Can you imagine what it would feel like if the wires weren't moving so slowly? You'd be sitting in the middle of work when all of a sudden your tooth moved into its proper place and, "OWWW!!!!" and various other curses would come out... ...

have you already noticed movement? Hey Cosmo- Well, I've definitely FELT movement, that's for sure - complete with wiggly teeth and cracking sounds; mostly on the bottom front teeth. Those 6 are probably the most crooked in my whole mouth, and even so, they're not THAT crooked that I'd notice any i...

Larry- I replied to your question re: molar bands in my story thread. I will reiterate what you said that it's the anticipation and waiting that is the worst. Once you have your consult and have your questions answered (which may bring up 100 more questions later), you'll feel a bit more at ease. I'...

Cathy, You responded to my other thread ("Grampa in Braces"). Thank you. Can you tell me how many bands you ended up with (or will end up with?). I have lots of molar crowns and I am wondering if they will be shoving the spacers between all of those? Sounds like you have had a time with the spacers...

You may want to give them a call and check. They may not want to put elastics on a freshly bonded bracket, so that might delay it a bit. Then again, if they can fit you in to re-bond it, and then you go in for your regular appointment later, it may be fine. All depends, but it's best to let them kno...

Welcome from me, too! BracketRacket is right - we're all in the same boat. Shoot - I'm 42 and have never been told I needed braces. I've only had 3 dentists in my whole life (2 from childhood through my late 30's), and not one of them ever mentioned braces. I was advised to get my wisdoms pulled abo...
