Re: Sarpe and mandibular distraction

I know it looks horrid, but like anything else, you adapt to pretty much anything pretty quickly! I wouldn't say that I didn't notice it was there, but I definitly got used to it. One upside to the bone-borne device (at least for me) was that it was removed after three months, whereas the others see...

Oy! I bet the chalk continues to look even better! Just curious -- 1)Does the color look "off" to you, also? 2)Why didn't he say anything when you were there? Good luck! Just remember, it's going to stick around for a long time, so it's sooo worth it to get it 100% right!

Re: Desperate! Please Help-Q about Switching Orthos and Refu

I'm sorry you're having troubles. Certainly a second opinion or two couldn't hurt. I'm not sure I understand why people are discussing legal actions, though -- from what you describe, it sounds like his "qualifications" were outlined correctly on his website. Whether he should have taken on your cas...

Re: Just need a little encouragement...

A tooth was damaged during your braces procedure? you should sue your orthodontist then. Relatively certain that these things can just happen during the course of treatment (assuming there was no accident or specific incident involved) and that it is outlined in the contract that every patient sign...

Post-surgical silly question

Ever since my surgery, it seems like every time I'm at the dentist or ortho and someone says something is going to hurt or be uncomfortable, they end it with "but with everything you've been through it'll be nothing" or "but a piece of cake after the surgery"? Does that happen to anyone else? Like I...

Re: Sarpe and mandibular distraction

I had a bone-borne expander when I had SARPE in May. There are pictures in my story, click on the link in my signature if you want to check them out. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about it. Good luck!

Re: Jaw expansion. Damon or expander?

So these are the 2 ways I could go with: 1.Palatal expansion (non surgical) + braces 2.Damon braces (no expander) In this case i will rely on the force from my tongue to help the expansion, which may or may not be enough If your palate is narrow enough (in comparison with your lower jaw), none of t...

Re: BracketRacket's story

Ouch! I was having some painful sensitivity (at least I hope that's all it was) starting last Saturday, it seems to have abated mostly now -- thank goodness! My teeth are pretty grumpy in general, just skitters around from tooth to tooth each day. Spacers Round Three on Jan. 17. I hope that's the en...

Re: spacers?

There's lots of possibilites -- Not everyone needs spacers, they may be planning on placing the bands later on (for instance, I had spacers for the bands around my first molars, and will get spacers later for a band around my second premolars), they may plan on a bracket for the tooth instead of the...
