Thanks for your reply. I don't mean the space between the teeth, I mean the fact that the tooth isn't straight across at the bottom --- shouldn't it be more level than it is? The other lateral incisor is. Instead, it comes almost to a point, like there's a chip missing from a corner (or both corners).

I recently consulted with an OS for SARPE, but won't be getting braces 3 months after the surgery -- I'm curious to hear about your experiences, too -- seems you're doing things more the "normal" way.

Good luck!

Couple questions...A chip?!?!? And whitening

So, see this? http://i858.photobucket.com/albums/ab148/BracketRacket/question1-1.jpg I "noticed" it a few years ago. (Note I said "noticed" and not "fell down a flight a stairs/bashed my head into a wall/did a face-plant into a manhole" ). Now that I know more about my teeth and alignment and ...

Thanks! I guess that's part of what's bothering me, too...the surgery will be done before braces, and then I need to wait three months before the brackets will be placed (the OS is going to use a bone-borne expander and from what I understand, it will be removed before the brackets are placed.) I'm ...

But I asked on the other forum what flared teeth means, and the reply was that its the compromise treatment. So basically, I technically still have an underbite only my front teeth have been flared to disguise it... Elspeth -- have you talked to your ortho about the flared teeth? Usually people her...

The thing that is holding me back from getting insurance is what if I get it, and then they don't approve of my surgery, and then I would have to continue paying for the insurance knowing they won't be able to cover the jaw surgery.. Not to be nosy -- but medical insurance is important  I wou...

As we all know, Healthcare reform passed this evening, and I am wondering if anyone here knows how national healthcare affects somebody trying to get coverage for Orthognathic surgery. Any insights are appreciated. The only thing I will say, is that right now (and for the forseeable future) nothing...

Denied (Well, sorta!)

And the journey continues...hopefully having SARPE soon, with a bone-borne expander being placed...fun! My insurance calls the other day, and says that pre-authorization was denied because (drumroll!) they need a study done showing I am done growing. They say it's not medically necessary to fix a cr...

For me, it did change a bit -- when the ortho originally saw me, he mentioned that surgery to widen my palate would be "ideal" -- during my consult, they said surgery was necessary and that treating me without it would do more harm than good. I have a feeling that had I backed out at that point, I w...

I also find that posting pics or x-rays make it so much easier to ask questions -- people have a much better idea when they can SEE the problem, as opposed to just reading about it. I may describe something using incorrect terminology or just plain incorrectly, but teeth don't lie (well, usually! :w...

Hey guys...had a consult with the OS, learned a few interesting things. First off, from what I gather, he wants to use a bone-borne expander -- anyone have experience with this? Also, he'd like to remove my two top wisdom teeth at the same time (I don't have any on the bottom)...I just hope this won...
