Re: Clear drinks with Invisalign

Definitely only water. Something clear will not cause staining but can cause cavities. In order to be healthy and aesthetic, drinking water only is recommended with the aligners on.

Re: Surgery and invisaliagn?

There are definitely orthodontists working with Invisalign to complete jaw surgery cases. The more difficult part is finding a surgeon that will be comfortable with some of the different nuances involved in completing the surgical fixation and stabilizing the bite without braces on. The best thing t...

Re: internal retainer shaky with invisalign

When you talk about shakiness, is it the teeth or the retainer itself? If the teeth are shaky, you should have the dentist and orthodontist take a look to check the stability of those teeth. If it is the bonded wire inside the teeth that is loose, you will want to go and get that fixed but bring you...

Re: Is there any functional difference between invisalign and braces?

From a theoretical standpoint, most forces from braces can be done also with Invisalign. The issue however is how many orthodontists and dentists will actually be able to deliver the same types of results with both. For many years, both doctors and patients have claimed a superiority of results with...

Re: Has this happened to anyone?

There are times when the mass manufacturing process goes wrong. It is possible also that the attachments were removed in the simulation and therefore aligners were made correctly. Best thing to do is check with your doctor and see what is supposed to be happening with your plan. Hope that helps!

Re: Experience with anterior crossbite please

Sorry to hear about your frustrations. Unfortunately, there are times when the teeth are moving and it isn't 100% possible to prevent the teeth from not touching or where attachments don't clash. One thing to consider is that your ClinCheck video is not a video of where your teeth are supposed to be...

Re: Massive problems with teeth sensitivity - can they stand IPR?

One factor to consider for your sensitivity is that it depends where the teeth are experiencing this sensation. Many people have sensitivity due to root exposure from gum recession or from wear on the biting surfaces of the teeth. When doing IPR, there is a thickness of enamel between the teeth that...

Re: Second molar band almost at the end of treatment?

It is not uncommon to line up the 2nd molars towards the end of treatment. This is because they are usually quite quick to line up and it is often more comfortable to not have a band/bracket so far back in the mouth for the duration of the treatment. As your treatment has been about 9 months, it doe...

Re: Open bite relapse prevention

The type of retainer best suited to prevent relapse is going to depend on how the teeth were moved. With Invisalign treatment and open bites, we are often intruding the posterior teeth to help the anterior teeth settle together rather than pulling the front teeth "out" from the gums vertically. One ...

Re: Acceledent for $395

We actually sell these in the office at a "loss" to help certain patients where the treatment may end up more efficient. The way we look at it, it might be worth selling it at a lower cost if it helps speed up treatment, help us with the results, or make the experience a better one for our patients....

Re: Cost of Braces Production?

The cost of the actual materials in a treatment can vary on the order of a couple hundred to a thousand dollars. When it comes to Invisalign, we're looking at up to a couple of thousand. As mentioned above, the cost of the treatment itself is not dependent on materials, but rather the costs involved...

Re: Can Invisalign fix an overjet?

Reframing the question might help... "Can a doctor use Invisalign to help correct my overjet?". There are going to be some doctors who may be able to use Invisalign to correct your concern, while there can be others who are also telling the truth when they tell you they cannot. At the end of the day...

Re: Teeth trying to relapse quickly after invisalign

It isn't uncommon for teeth to want to move immediately after orthodontic treatment. The amount and how quickly depends on a number of factors including how much/how quickly/what direction the teeth were moved. If you're feeling like they are moving a lot, it may be a good idea to discuss fixed reta...

Re: Retainer for life?

Unfortunately teeth want to continue to shift even after treatment because the forces that caused them to become misaligned in the first place still exist (e.g. tongue, chewing, cheeks, etc). Retainers on a nightly basis will minimize the amount of movement you experience after your braces are off. ...

Re: on my second set, no pain?

Totally normal. Some people do not feel much at all when wearing Invisalign whereas others will feel a bit of a dull ache. In terms of aligner changes, we will often times change the cycle for the aligners based upon the movements required, compliance with wear, and individual biology. This can happ...
