Re: Tooth Shaving

If done properly, there should be no sensitivity or increase the predisposition to cavities. You don't need any needles for this procedure either. We've put together a video outlining IPR (inter proximal reduction) / shaving / slenderizing / filing. Hope this helps! http://www.torontobraces.ca/getti...

Re: Can Invisalign help with bite issues?

I'm so happy to read a thread with other posters talking about the skill of the doctor. Invisalign is a technique, not a product, so the results that you're going to receive will differ depending on the office and team you choose. Love it!

Re: gap created to straighten front teeth?

In order to straighten teeth that are crowded, it isn't uncommon to need to create space around the adjacent teeth in order to make room to move them. This is temporary and the really nice thing is that while aligners are on, these small spaces will be relatively inconspicuous or invisible.

Re: Is it normal I'm not wearing rubber bands?

So there's a chance I won't wear rubber bands? It does seem like he does things a bit differently. I know he avoids extractions. He also never remotely mentioned rubber bands. I wouldn't know they exist if I didn't do online research. We try not to extract if possible either but virtually every one...

Re: Is it normal I'm not wearing rubber bands?

Lots of different ways to open up the bite. It can be done with the wires. Using elastics may help as well, but depending on the stage of your treatment, it may or may not be possible/beneficial yet. If you have questions about whether they would help, best ask at your next visit. Good luck!

Re: Different treatment time estimations given by different orthos

12-18 months seems like a larger range. If you look at the one saying 24 months, that's only 6 months longer than the 18 months, and it is possible that you could start running past 18 months and be reminded that you were told that it may take 18 months, but there are some extra things to do now, so...

New Tiers For Invisalign Providers Beginning January 1, 2018

One of the things that many people look for before beginning Invisalign treatment is to look for an experienced provider. One way is to use the Invisalign doctor locator to look at the statuses of doctors based upon a lifetime volume of experience and recent experience in the last 6 months. As of Ja...

Re: Align Technology Introduces Changing Invisalign Every 7 Days

An interesting email sent to providing doctors last week. I knew it was coming and thought about various motivations for it. We have patients changing on all sorts of aligner cycles for many years. However, we still do not feel comfortable changing aligners every 7 days in all situations. We have a...

Re: Invisalign wear while waiting for refinement trays

We generally leave all of the attachments on for scans unless something in the plan changes. Most of our patients prefer not to have to go through an attachment removal and replacement appointment. By leaving the attachments on for the scan, it also allows your current aligners to hold your teeth in...

Re: ClinCheck final results shows flaring out

We never show our patients the ClinCheck before they start treatment. The reason is that the ClinCheck is not a representation of how the teeth will look at the end of treatment, but rather a video showing what each tray shape is going to look like. More often than not, the tray shape itself will di...

Re: Clear drinks with Invisalign

Thanks for advice DrJasonTam. Does sugar-free product causing cavity? My understanding is that a lot of sugar-free products contains artificial sweetener, but I am not sure whether they would cause cavity as much as a sugary product. Sugar free drinks also have acid pHs which may not cause cavities...

Re: Invisalign with Attachments AND elastics?

Many of our patients are using Invisalign with elastics. Generally, they are used to help try to improve bite issues and can be attached to the aligner or on a brace that is placed directly on the tooth. Here are some pictures and examples to help you visualize! All the best :). http://www.torontobr...

Re: Can Invisalign widen arches or do I need a palatal expander?

we dentally expand arches all the time without expanders in adults using Invisalign. In adults, the movement is going to be dental, not skeletal What does this mean in terms of the outcome? Is there any compromise in terms of aesthetics? I have a crossbite on my top left so it seems I'll need some ...

Re: Can Invisalign widen arches or do I need a palatal expander?

The ability to move the teeth is going to depend on the experience of the doctor. I will tell you that we dentally expand arches all the time without expanders in adults using Invisalign. In adults, the movement is going to be dental, not skeletal, so there is no reason why a fixed expander should b...
