I get my wires out for cleanings at my perios office but never had the molar bands off too. Now that's different, but a good way to check for cavities under the bands. Interesting; I agree...maybe a 'once a year' thing is a good idea? Of course, that usually means only once during treatment, unless...

Hi Raychno21, welcome to the board! Sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time with your braces, I've only had mine for a month now and it's getting better. when I first got my braces (I have ceramic upper and lower) someone here recommended this braces guard thingy, it clips on to the brack...

Nothing so computerized at my ortho's office. I do sign in via computer, but that's it. Then the assistant has my folder and calls me into the room (I choose to go into the room every time instead of going to the 'open area' for 'the kids' LOL I feel I get better, more individual treatment in the pr...

saycheese, do youhavemetal or ceramic brackets? This makes a BIG difference in debanding time. It takes longer to take the ceramic off I guess bc of the back of the bracket and how it adheres to the tooth. So your best bet is to ask your ortho's office

bbsadmin--you're right. and actually since i posted that I've been doing a lot of thinking, and I might as well just keep going with my orthodontist's plan. He's a nice guy and he clearly knows what he's doing. He's had other cases like me, so I'll trust him. One question--I can't find what wire ti...

Oh shoot...just read this. Might still work for you, though, katia!! :) "Clear Wire is available only in round profile. This limits the wire to mainly the initial phase of orthodontic treatment. Round wires can also be used in the final phase of orthodontic treatment but this is dependent on your tr...

i believe it's called the Biomer wire? OOOOH!!!! I sooooooooooo want this!!! I've been DREAMING about a 'see through' wire, but NEVER thought it could exist, so didn't even google it. I doubt my ortho uses it and I doubt I have a chance to get it, but I'll still ask her. Can't hurt...except when sh...

if you read the 'what is speed' tab. it's basically saying that it's name refers to the speed with which the ortho/asst can change the wire...opening and shutting is much faster. the 'benefits' for the patient are smaller brackets ... thus better hygiene, as another poster noted. So...I think the 's...

I don't have personal experience, but I've read of many people delivering babies while they're braced and feeling 'silly' about it. They look like a teenager...but here they are having a kid. LOL!! So, I'm going to say it's PROBABLY okay...but please don't quote me because I don't know. But what rol...

For those that say we'll get used to it: so exactly WHEN does this 'getting used to them' thing happen? Cause, I'm at month 9 on top and ONLY month 1 on bottom...and I'm not happy. Not as miserable as I was about a month ago when the bottoms FIRST went on, but... Do you think this misery would've w...

Well, I've posted twice on this topic, but never actually replied to the initial post..so here goes. I have ceramic on top and metal on the bottom. I have to admit that I hated the metal when I first got it. I had had my ceramic on for 8 months prior to getting the bottoms, so the bottoms looked SO ...

LOL!!! I do and think the SAME THING!!! I believe EVERYBODY could use braces, however, the trauma I've...
