To stretch or not to stretch, that is my question!

I've had class II elastics, class III elastics, and various triangles. Through it all, I've always taken the band out of the bag and contorted it in the necessary configuration. With this box configuration, however, I am struggling! Struggling to get it under the posts and around the molars and stru...

Take heart, everyone goes through the immediate phase of not liking their braces! It will get better (then worse) then better again. You will eat before you know it. For me, I couldn't eat and the. I woke up one day and sunk my teeth into actual food. Until then, I highly recommend a waterpik for cl...

I should post some of their lab reports thi year:). They all made hypothesis that the Coca-Cola would cause more loss of mass than the other drinks based on acid content and what their parents had told them battery acid and coke. We studied the teeth for two months. Each week the tooth was weighed, ...

Probably the most disgusting thing I've asked for from a dentist/oral surgeon/have been my wisdom teeth. They were really cool (and really huge). My students and I did an experiment where we put one in Mountain Dew, one in Coca-Cola, one in Milk and one in Water. It was a truly awesome project! Each...

I've been following you for so long. Mainly because you started a month or so before me but also because you've had such an awesome sense of humor about everything! Congratulations on being free!!! One question though, and you may not know the answer: do you have to relearn any vocal techniques now ...

I love powerchains! I've noticed, however, that my powerchains lose power a week or so before my adjustment and gaps that had previously closed would open though not to the extend they had before. I worry what will happen with my gap when the braces come off and there is not a powerchain to keep the...

I agree it is too early to be seriously concerned about where your teeth are now. It seems as though I always go through one month of loving my teeth to another month of not even wanting to look in the mirror. One thing to keep in mind though is that your orthodontist is looking out for the overall ...

I had two consultations from Nov 08-Jan 09. Records and spacers were done early March and the braces fitted mid March. Had I gone with the first consult, I could have had records and braces the next week. I remember the wait being a killer. Once I had decided to take the plunge, I just wanted it ove...

I've accepted canker sores, bracket impressions, and (worse of all) elastic etchings as part of my natural mouth-scape. It isn't as bothersome as it once was, bit it's all still in there.

Right after my adjustments I would pop a peice of gum in and chew for the rest of the day. It would usually take me up to 6 hours for soreness to kick in but with this trick I didn't get sore. Wow, I never thought to use the gum trick BEFORE they were sore, only after! I would have never gotten thr...

Does the upper appliance have a key that she has to turn? If so, her appliances may be expanders to create more space before the "railroad tracks" go on. *just guessing*

Yea! Congratulations! Your teeth now vs your molds then are amazing! I can't imagine how chewing was very comfortable pre-braces. Even without the surgery, I think your teeth look great!
