Debracing date sometime soon, but problems...

So I'm almost at my 2 year mark. My ortho is super happy with all of my progress, as my gaps are all closed (I had 4 premolars out) and my teeth are very straight at this point. In fact, aside from 2 issues, I'm ready to have these things off! However, those two issues are big ones. One: None of my ...

Re: Chewing Gum

I've chewed gum with my braces in. It's not hard. Don't use a kind that gets super squishy though; so bubblelicious is out! A good firm, non-sticky gum is ok. The point is to make sure it doesn't get stuck to your brackets, so be careful while you chew.

Re: Does it hurt when you get the metal bands put in?

It didn't really hurt, but it is very uncomfortable and they may need to apply a large amount of pressure which might be interpreted by your brain as pain if you get too tense. It doesn't really hurt, but the bottoms may hurt your jaw joint, not the actual teeth.

Re: Awake during extractions?

I had all four premolars out with just local Novocaine. I had my eyes closed because personally, I can handle procedures being done to me only if I can't see it lol. Just had my nose pierced yesterday as a matter of fact lol! It hurt a lot more than my extractions hurt. At least during the procedure...

The force of braces, wires, and elastics is not likely going to cause trauma or fracture to the crown of the teeth. Excessive, intermittent forces will cause damage to the roots, however. This is known as root resorption, resulting in a decrease size of the tooth in the bone, and a subsequent decre...

Yoink!!! Hallo all. As far as I can tell, my mongo super wires have done some work, probably most of it I can't see. I still have a tiny gap on the lower right... *sigh*. My upper teeth do seem to be aligned better. My ortho says everything is on schedule, so yay! She quoted me two years, and that's...

Definitely ask! I too am in the "boring" stage of treatment. I actually have been for almost a year now it seems lol. I asked my ortho back in February what was going on, because I felt discouraged and like nothing had happened. She told me everything was going exactly according to plan! Now she mak...

Re: Too long for a wire change?

I got lingual braces 4 weeks ago. I was meant to have an appointment for first wire change in a couple of weeks time but I had to cancel so the next time they can fit me in is at the end of October meaning it would be 3 months since I first had brace fitted. Is this ok or too long?I am worried one ...

I've been in braces for more than a year and a half and don't have brackets on my back molars. It's pretty common!
