Going to have it extracted sometime in 1Q 2011. Just remove yours since it doesn't look like its going to come up st...

Congrats! Count me in for the no smiling/no confidence either. I'm hoping to get braced in 2011 after having other work done first. I wish I would have at least gone to an ortho in my twenties to see what it would cost and how long. I'm 30 now. I thought I could never afford it but in reality, I alw...

No gingivectomy done but I did have a piece of gum grow and cover over half of a tooth out of nowhere. Dentist sliced it off and glued something over the area. Didn't hurt at all. There was some blood after the glue thing went away. Just take some advil ahead of time and you'll be ok. I always take ...

Congrats to the wife! What type of periodontal work did she have done prior? I'm at that stage now. Getting the bones and periodontal pockets in check before I can proceed with the braces. I've only had a deep cleaning (Scaling and Root Planing) and 1 regular cleaning. Next up is peeling back my gum...

I don't have braces yet either but for chips and salsa, you could always crush the chips, mix it in with the salsa and spoon eat it. Thats what I do sometimes when I'm lazy :D

Its going to be interesting to see that canine move. I'm not braced yet and mine looks the same way. Is the extraction behind that tooth? My consultation didn't mention anything about extractions and I don't know how the crossbite next to the canine will move forward :(

Nice to know we have an insider here  Spill some secrets. Why is there such a huge markup for clear brackets?

How about doing the Six Month Braces Technique

I would do the braces now. I'd rather start a new job already comfortable with how the braces feel on. Plus you said you will have extractions. I wouldn't want the gappy showing for the new colleagues.

Good prognosis? It was everything I didn't want to hear, surgery after surgery  I had a small panic attack on the drive home because didn't want to get cut up. Of course the periodontis made it sound like it was a walk in a park  All of the staff was nice though, never been in a friendli...

I went to the periodontist today. I have bad news and some good news. Bad news is that I would need osseous surgery/bone grafting to be done by the periodontist. Surgery so they can clean everything under the gums better. Slice into my gums, peel them back and then sew it back on later  All o...

Dental schools have reduced rates. That should cut the cost in half or so.

You could finance it if you have some decent credit. Something like $200/month.

I called to get a quote on laser periodontics and I was in for sticker shock, $7,100

Needless to say, I have an appointment with an in-network perio doc under my dental plan later this week.
