Hey, Flaka, nice to hear from you! I wouldn't say that my elastics look wonderful, perhaps we could find a more appropriate word, haha! :) I've been wearing elastics since mid-april in different configurations and now I am sort of tired of them! My cross-bite improved a lot and now my molar seems to...

elastics for midline: how long?

Hi everyone! I've been wearing elastics for correcting my midline for four months already. They are like a combination of class2 and class3 elastics: one that goes from top canine to lower molar and one from lower canine to upper molar. They are called 'parallel elastics'. I've also been wearing a c...

Hey, I am 14 months into full metal. I don't regret my decision, at the beginning it was difficult to get used to my new look. I still think that ceramics do look better than metal, especially in adults (I'm 29), but after getting your braces probably your look will be the last of your concerns - ca...

Hey, I had the same issue for a while, but then my teeth moved and now they don't touch anymore. I think it is just normal, they are moving our teeth so necessarily in some periods our bite must be messy...

It is normal to feel that at the beginning but as the other people said, it is extremely unlikely that you'll break your wire or brackets. To break them with your toothbrush I'd say is impossible. So relax and brush normally, or even harder!

I had tmj as well, not as severe as yours. They recommended correcting my bite with braces for this as well, but I guess each case is different!

I've been wearing elastics for a few months already, and I can say they are moderatel painful at the beginning. The first days you will definitely feel some pain, then you'll get used. As for the bottom braces, I can't recall -I got both arches at the same time.

sometimes orthos overcorrect things on purpose bc they expect a minor relapse after the elastics are removed, at least that is what my ortho told me, so I wouldn't stop wearing them until you ortho tells yo to do so!

I got the first elastics 8-9 months in, now I've been wearing them for 5 months and it looks to me that the are going to stay... I've got 3 different configurations, and each time is kind of hard getting used to new teeth aching..

It looks like you have the same elastics as me: one that goes from upper front to lower back, and one from lower front to upper back. They are intended to correct the midline.

When I first got braced, I got bite pads on my lower molars that completel prevented my teeth to meet. I could not chew at all at first and it was really frustrating. I thought it was physically impossible to chew with those things on, but after a while I started managing them and being somehow able...

I got them all at once, but I could definitely tell that the uppers were hurting more. After wire changes they have been more painful as well, maybe it just depends!

I'm not sure speeding up is healthy, though I would definitely love to finish ASAP! :D Whatever, once you're in, the important thing is to achieve the goals and have healthy nicely aligned teeth!

I have all metal because the ortho I chose recommended damon braces and they are metal. I wanted ceramics, definitely look better though they are not invisible at all! The staining is probably a problem you avoid with metal but of course they do not look as good as ceramics... anyway, I don't regret...

I've had them for a year now, and so far it's been a good experience. Not major pain, no extractions and fast movement. But I don't have any reference for comparison, so I can't say they are any better that other types of braces. I chose this ortho because I could avoid extractions and palate applia...
