believe it or not, you WILL get used and will master eating with them. I did. Certainly, never managed to eat 100% normal (salad was a pain, for example) bu most of the time I would eat just fine with the buildups. It takes a bit, true, but as most of the braces-related stuff, you end up forgetting ...

I had elastics for midline for 6 months. The config was one class II on one side (from upper front to lower back) and one class III on the other side (front lowers to back upper arch). My ortho called them "parallel elastics". The bad news is that they only corrected 50% of my midline, the rest is a...

It's normal, as the shape of your arches keeps changing, so does you lip position. It should be ok at the end, though.

My ortho recommends nightime wear for ever, he said after one year you could be not so strict but that generally is better to wear them every night. It does not bother me at all wearing it at night, and after 9 months I still feel the tightness when I put them back, so I plan to keep wearing them on...

for me it was about a week as well - I also thought my case would be different and I would never adjust but I did, even with those bite pads that prevented my teeth from touching each other. However, keep in mind that while you are braced you will always have to keep your braces in mind when eating,...

Thanks! I guess it would be worse with the hawley, I've never had one of those. However, I'm close to 6 months with retainers and haven't been able to wear the lower one as instructed. When I talk with the retainer in my mouth it keeps making me gag quite badly. And yes, the impressions made me gag ...

I was told to wear the essix for 6 months 24/7 and then switch to nightwear. I'm not the best retainer wearer ever, though!

Oh, I've got a lower bonded retainer as well.

retainer makes me gag

Hi everyone, I was debraced three months ago, and now wear a fixed lower retainer plus upper and lower clear essix retainers. I was told to wear them 24/7 for 6 months and then switch to nighttime wear. The problem is that my lower essix will often make me gag, and I just can't wear it all the time....

GOT THEM OFF!

A few weeks ago I got m braces off! I'll post pictures as soon as I can, but essentially I'm happy with the results, though not 100%, since my midline and my overbite could not be completely corrected -that would have required surgery, and I didn't even consider that. My teeth are perfectly aligned,...

I was surprised by the lack of comments as well, but it somehow made it easier for me to cope with my metal look at age 29... However, the fact that now that I got them off and have a brand new, perfectly aligned smile almost anybody made any reference at all DOES bother me! Come on, I spent ...

bonded retainer while braced

I went for an adjustment and by surprise got a bonded retainer behind my 6 front lowers! I wasn't expecting that. It is good news because my ortho told me that perhaps I'll get the braces off in January which is really great. What I don't quite understand is why I am getting the bonded retainer alre...

I might get them off on January 12th, not 100% sure but most likely! I am so excited. My teeth are not perfect, I have some deep bite and my midline is still off but nothing compared to how my mouth was before braces! I am really looking forward to getting debanded, I am kind of tired of them, espec...

I had these blue buildups at the beginning of my treatment, I really thought I would'nt adapt and that eating with them was simply impossible. I was wrong. I don't know how but somehow you manage eating and (sort-of) chewing with them. With few exceptions (salad was impossible those first months) yo...

I think you took the right decision. Life is not easy the first days or weeks in braces, but you'll always find an excuse to postpone. When I took the decision I just wanted them to start right away and the weeks I waited were really long. You'll probably find trouble eating the first days, but your...
