Re: Bonding a Gap?

Hello Everyone! I have had my braces on for a 1yr and 7 months so far. At my last appt. my dentist did some minor tweaking here and there. There is a small gap that he has been working on for maybe 3/4 months now that he says is being stubborn and he would like to perform some bonding on it at my n...

Re: Unhappy with just one tooth.. Advice?

Its quite common for the lateral incisors to be like that, mine are like that. I think the angle of the pic and the slew of your lip is exaggerating the extent of it.

Re: Black Triangles After Braces/Gum Recession

The thing I wouldn`t like about veneers is they would cover the whole surface of your two front teeth. Whereas, the bonding would only fill in your little problem area and it would blend in so well that nobody would ever know it wasn't real. I know people who have bonding on the lower part of their ...

Re: Black Triangles After Braces/Gum Recession

Bonding is the same thing as a filling. We usually think of fillings to fill a cavity, but in the case its use would be to fill a gap. They use a tooth coloured composite material. I would personally go with bonding over veneers to save the money. Veneers are supposed to be more durable but in that ...

Re: Pros and Cons of retainer options

Good info.
To me for the time span which you have to wear the retainer 24/7, its good to have clear during the day for aesthetics. But for sleep time use when aesthetics don't matter, hawley would be best because it will last way longer and its also good that little adjustments can be made to it.

Re: Is a week without retainers long enough for teeth to mov

My teeth move with just a few hours without my retainer. Its not visibly noticeable, but I can feel the difference in the way my bite comes together when I first put the retainer in. Then after an hour or so with the retainer in, my bite feels right again.

Re: Metal vs Clear braces

Go with whichever you like the look of better. Speed, I think it will be pretty much equal either way. I had full metal damon on bottom, half metal damon on the uppers with full clear brackets on the upper 4, and I never noticed a difference in comfort. Once you go through the adjustment period its ...

Re: Flossing with lingual retainer?

Yes you can floss with a lingual retainer. You floss like you normally would above the wire. Then when you want to floss below the wire, you use floss with a stiffened tip and press it in at the gumline, pull it through and floss away.

Re: Teeth whitening with hawley retainer in?

The dr. on here recommends to wait a month or so(iirc) post braces to do whitening. You have to take the retainers out to whiten.

Re: braces 1 year retainer 1 year help

You can't really do much about it other than go back to full time retainer wear. My teeth feel different when I go a while without my retainer in, but the retainer corrects it overnight.

Re: Can you pay another ortho to do your retainer??

Any ortho or dentist can do it. All they do is take a mold and send it to a lab to be made.
There is even a seller on ebay who does custom retainers, good reviews too.

It is a retainer, I have the same one as you explain. They are adjustable, best to call the ortho with your concerns.
