For the last four months or so I've been having appointments every three weeks. My teeth move very fast so this seems to be working well for me. I think it depends on the ortho how frequently they schedule appointments.

You should definitely get at least a second opinion, and maybe more than that. Before I got my braces put on, I saw five othodontists, and it seems most of us get at least two opinions before make a final decision. Please don't let fear of pain deter you - there is some pain involved but it is very ...

Topic: How will ortho rotate canine?

Both my bottom canines were fully rotated sideways so it was a major production to get them turned. First coils were put in to create space - I was amazed at how much space was created. Then powerchains were used to rotate them just to get them to where they could be put on the wire. Then they were ...

You should definitely get more consultations and see what other doctors recommend. Many of us here got differing recommendations from different orthos - I was told by one that I would definitely need extractions, from two that they weren't sure, and from one that I wouldn't need them. I considered e...

6 weeks is a very routine and common length between adjustments - partcularly in the beginning of treatment. I wouldn't worry at all about it!

I went on 5 consults before narrowing my choice down to two. One recommended extractions - 2 upper premolars and one bottom incisor. The other said I wouldn't need extractions. I opted not to go for extractions because I have very healthy teeth and just didn't want to lose any. I couldn't be happier...

I love my ceramics - I have NO regrets. You can barely even tell that I'm wearing them. I started out wearing clear ligs and they do stain from coffee, but not enough so that anyone but me can tell. The two things I avoid now that I have the clear brackets is yellow mustard and curry - I've learned ...

I agree - don't stop wearing them until you consult with your ortho. Mine told me we are trying to overcorrect to allow for some relapse after the braces are removed. My elastics have closed my open bite, but my ortho says once the braces are removed, there may be some relapse. I guess it is difficu...

I'm 35 - got braces when I was 34 - and hope to have them off right around my 36th birthday. My only regret is that I didn't take the plunge sooner - much sooner!

I think you should definitely get some more opinions. I went on five consultations before deciding on my orthodontist. Each consult recommended a different treatment plan and I had to decide which I was most comfortable with. One of my consults recommended extractions but I really wanted to keep all...

I think it's a great idea to speak with your orthodontist about his plans - but don't panic, because like Andromeda said, your teeth can definitely get worse before they get better. Maybe your ortho just hasn't communicated his plans to you. My bite is opening on one side but my ortho was expecting ...

Drink a TON of water - it will make a huge difference! You will adjust very soon but in the beginning my mouth was completely parched so I drank water almost non-stop and it was a big help.

Both my lower canines needed to be rotated and my ortho used a powerchain and wire ties. It worked easily on one side and is going much slower on the other side but I can see some progress.

I have them and love them. With the clear ligs they can barely be seen. The ligs do get a little bit stained after 3-4 weeks or so but you only notice because when they get changed they look brighter and cleaner. I eat everything except for curry and bright yellow mustard - they will radically stain...
