Re: Small gap after braces!!!

It looks to me as if the retainer does close the gap for you. I would hope that consistent 24/7 wearing of your retainer would close the gap permanently. How soon after removing your retainer does the gap appear? Otherwise you might ask your ortho to try a bonded retainer. I believe they are often f...

Re: Decision time - Damon clear vs. Damon metal?

I had Damon clear for 18 months and they did not discolour at all. And I drank plenty of tea, coffee and red wine and ate curry. They were not completely invisible, but much more discreet than metal braces and perfectly comfortable after the first couple of days. I was very happy with them. But this...

Re: Acrylic retainers are thick!

My first Hawley retainer was quite thick too. I had asked for a Hawley as back up to my essix and told my ortho that I wanted the Hawley because I understood it would be more robust than the essix. Because I also had a bonded retainer, it was only for 12/7 then 8/7 wear anyway. In the event I prefer...

Re: Maeby Getting Braces

Wow, Maeby, I am staggered that you are still in braces after all this time. You must have started not long after me and it seems like ages ago. And to think that I moaned when my treatment took 18 months rather than the predicted 9 months! How far away do you think you are from finishing? I guess y...

Re: Cleaning retainers

I use retainerbrite once a week. On other days I brush my retainer with a soft toothbrush and bar soap. That seems to work well and no scratches on my retainer.

Re: Teeth Shifting several years later

Hi Espresodoll, It sound as though your teeth might be moving backwards and forwards on a daily basis which can't be good for them. If I were you I would consult a new orthodontist to advise you and supervise a new retention regime. As Snowglobe suggests, this would probably need to be 24/7 retainer...

Re: Retainer advice after Invisalign

1 teeth can be pretty loose during/after orthodontic treatment, so it is possibly not surprising that your teeth have moved back into line so quickly. If you had done this at the start of your invisalign treatment I imagine your ortho would be pretty concerned. But will probably be less concerned at...

Re: Are Hawleys really effective at all?

Hawleys have been used for years and do retain your teeth effectively. Some orthos prefer them, some prefer essix. Essix are quicker and cheaper to make but are less robust and will need replacing more often. Essix have contact with a greater part of the surface area of your teeth so could be argued...

Re: Overjet and buck teeth - metal or clear braces?

Hi natalaiikor, I don't think there is any real risk of breakage with clear brackets irrespective of how irregular your teeth are ( except when brackets are being removed). Clear and metal brackets perform pretty much the same. Staining will not be a problem if you have self-ligating brackets such a...

Re: Damon Braces and rotated lateral incisor

This sounds a bit like the issue I had. My ortho created the space needed by doing IPR between my incisors then using a powerchain to move the incisors so that the space was left next to the lateral which needed to be moved into the arch. I'm sure your ortho will manage to make the necessary space f...

Can you post a picture of where the wire goes over your molars? Your teeth look great by the way.

Re: John Oliver had work done and now I am too

Your top wire is so much straighter so you must have had lots of movement-really encouraging! As to your bottom molar, I don't think it has moved in; I think the premolar next to it has moved out. Your braces will no doubt line all these teeth up properly in due course. Good luck with your treatment...

Re: Hawley doesn't allow teeth to touch

Can you post a picture? One of the benefits of a Hawley is that you should be able to bite both arches together with the Adams clasps at the back fitting neatly around your molars. Do you have no retainer for your bottom arch at all? I understand that bottom incisors are the teeth most prone to rela...

Re: Hi everyone, newbie here

Hi NikNax,

There is no such thing as " tightening" these days. With the Damon system you will just get a new wire from time to time- and perhaps elastics or powerchains in due course.

Good luck with your treatment.

Remarkable progress! Will you have some IPR to enable the left lateral to squeeze into line?
I look forward to seeing future progress pics
