Take a deep breath. The colors are from when the ortho peeled the bracket off its packaging. It will eventually go away from brushing. If you are an adult you will most likely not be wearing headgear. I sometimes have trouble differentiating between excess glue and plaque. Just blast it with the wat...

It depends on which type of braces you have. Traditional braces are usually 4-6 weeks and self-ligating braces are around 6-8 weeks and even sometimes longer than that.

You are only a tiny bit over 5 weeks so you are all good, no worries. :D

macgirl4ever: the dentist STILL thinks I don't need braces. i mentioned it once(when i was 14-15) and he told my mum if i ever did it, it would be for cosmetic reasons. The one reason he referred me to the ortho was to check and get the impacted molars fixed. yesterday, i was in a lot of pain and I...

WOW!! You're teeth look fabulous I am truly jealous! I see what you are saying about the midline though. I would bring in the picture that you took to your ortho and say, " see my midline is not matching up when I bite down." Or something of that sort. As you probably already know, a lot of times wi...

All that excitement with the countdown and then " *sigh*"??? Believe me I know how you feel but unfortunately for me I never had your positive attitude prior to getting braced. Everything you're feeling right now is 100% completely normal and it will go away in about two weeks and you will literally...

Don't hide your smile! I actually find smiles that are more "gummier" attractive. I wish more of my gums showed when I smile, luckily my braces are starting to change that. Before you could not see any of my gums at all and It made my teeth look really small.

We all want what we don't have, right?

#1. Extractions, to me anyways, are not painful at all. I had two extractions after already being braced and did not run into any problems. #2. I STRONGLY recommend you get another opinion. Sometimes one ortho recommends extractions while another it extremely confident that they can get the desired ...

They expect you to wait a week with the bracket just hanging on the wire. Thats ridiculous.

If you don't want to make a big deal I would just call tomorrow and say that the bracket is starting to hurt and then they will have to take you in for an emergency apt.

I would get numerous opinions. After you go to your scheduled consultation I would go to one or two more. If these ortho's also recommend extractions of the same teeth I would consider the dental school. There are definitely people on here who go to a dental school for their orthodontic treatment. I...

I had two buttons and cross elastics on both my upper canines. The first time I got them they were not painful at all. The assistant put them on that time. The second time I went in my ortho was like wait let me do it this time and he tied the elastics SUPER tight and it was pretty painful but the c...

I get a goofy email too but I had to activate something on the ortho's website to be able to do that. We can also activate something to get text messages sent to our phone. No matter what tho we get the robot call the day before. However, I am usually counting down the days to my next appt, so its n...
