It depends on which type of braces you have. Traditional braces are usually 4-6 weeks and self-ligating braces are around 6-8 weeks and even sometimes longer than that.

You are only a tiny bit over 5 weeks so you are all good, no worries.

Don't hide your smile! I actually find smiles that are more "gummier" attractive. I wish more of my gums showed when I smile, luckily my braces are starting to change that. Before you could not see any of my gums at all and It made my teeth look really small.

If you don't want to make a big deal I would just call tomorrow and say that the bracket is starting to hurt and then they will have to take you in for an emergency apt.
