I HATE POKEY WIRES GRRRR....
Are you in powerchains? My ortho assit. told me that I get pokey wires all the time because my powerchains close my gaps which makes the wires too long.
Id go to the ortho and get it clipped if I were you. The wax is a drag!

Congrats on taking the plunge delightfulde! Ha, I use to rip and twist my teeth out too early as well! It used to drive me mother insane. I am so glad I am not the only " freak" that use to do that. I can still imagine sitting in front of that mirror twisting, turning, and POP! SUCCESS! Hah, okay I'...

Hi Raychno21! I am 20 years old also :D It's funny I hardly ever see anyone my age with braces but there seems to be quite a few on this site so that always makes me feel better :D I promise you it gets better. I can remember when I first got braced thinking that I would never make it, too painful, ...

It is not just the size of the wire that matters but the shape ( rectangular, circular) and the material from which it's made that matters( Nickel Titanium, Stainless Steel, etc.) You cannot use the rectangular stainless steel wires until your teeth are pretty much all the way straight. So if your t...

Hi Ashanti! Congrats on taking the plunge! I also had baby teeth that I had to have pulled, they were the ones right next to yours (canines). No one can say for sure when you will get powerchains so you will have to ask your orthodontist. My case was a lot different than yours but I got my powerchai...

I am not sure if you mean getting use to your physical appearance in braces or getting used to the discomfort, because I have different answers for the two... I am still unhappy with how I look in braces. Quite frankly I feel like I look like a freak, however; I am aware that others are not thinking...

Hi, I had two spring coils to create gaps on both sides of my upper arch. I only wore them for the length of 1 adjustment, which was about 6-8 weeks. I can't remember if I noticed movement or not being that it was about 7 months ago or so, but since I wore them for only 6-8 weeks I am assuming they ...

Hi uvraise! Don't worry, the pain won't be unbearable. You will mot likely have to go back on a soft-food diet for a couple of days until you readjust. I will be honest and say my first adjustment discomfort was higher than when I was initially braced. That said, be prepared! Take a motrin in advanc...

Thanks Teylix! Ha, I know I should definitely not complain because I heard surgery is killer. I hope you have a quick recovery. I am trying to work on letting things play out as they should, but its my nature to be impatient! Thank you so much Blake! Those are just the words I need to hear, really. ...

I had two severely rotated canines that were once impacted. My ortho used powerchains and would take the bracket off those teeth and rebond them in a different spot until he got the canine rotated. For example, sometimes the bracket would be straight on the tooth and other times he would move it to ...
