Just wanted to wish you luck! It will soon be over and you'll be hurtling your way to the finish in no time.
Best advice I can give, take it easy and don't rush to recover.

Re: My buildups keep coming off!
I had buildups on twice, maybe three times I'm not sure, and hated them with a passion. The next time I was due to get more on because I apparently have a 'fierce bite' I refused so I was given a bite blocker plate instead...it's a removable appliance, takes a little bit of getting used to but is so...

Re: Longest Time In Braces Pre-Surgery?
Lenny...Oh My Word!! Nearly 10 years in braces! WOW I thought I was bad with 6 yrs +. I saw a different ortho initially after my surgery who told me I'd have my braces off in 4 months time...I don't believe him considering the amount of work my ortho did to my teeth just last week. But I'm thinking ...

Hi Harmony, I'm 6 weeks post BSSO with mandibular setback and wisdom tooth removal. Considering how anxious I was the week before my surgery, I'd say that if you are worried, and I know it's easier said than done, but try not to get into a state like I did; surgery and post-surgery won't be as bad a...

Re: Overjet After Mandibular Setback
I had my second post-op checkup with the orthodontist this morning He said a 'normal' overjet is 2mm - 3mm. Last week when he measured me, I was 3.5mm and they were really happy with that, especially considering I also need to have my top left central incisor replaced with an implant. I told him all...

Re: Surgery Dream Wish List
I'm 10 days post BSSO + wisdom tooth extraction and I would say the things I'd want the most: 1. an ice pack maker. Ice packs got me through the first 2 days (didn't really need them after day 3) but I got to feeling like I was Father Jack from the TV show Father Ted and was always shouting 'Ice!' :...

Re: Overjet After Mandibular Setback
THANK YOU! so much for your replies. Unfortunately, patience is not my forte  I'm feeling better about it all today. I have 2 elastics (one either side) on just now, the orthodontist said it was to help stop my jaw going back to where it was but they are definitely doing something to my teeth ...

Overjet After Mandibular Setback
Hi folks, I am 9 days post BSSO + wisdom tooth extraction on my lower jaw. I was initially very pleased with how things were looking but now that the swelling has gone down some, I can have a better look at my teeth and I'm horrified to see that I have a gap between my top teeth and my bottom teeth ...

Re: How Long Off Work?
Thank you so much :) for all your really helpful replies. I told work that my surgery is due on 5th September and I anticipate that I'll be back to work on 6th October. That will give me 4 weeks to recover and even if it's not all needed, I'd rather give myself extra time than not enough because I k...

How Long Off Work?
After 6 years, 1 month and 16 days in braces, I finally have a BSSO surgery date....5th September 2014. The surgeon told me I have a 6 - 8 week recovery time ahead of me. I'm wondering how long I'll need off work. I know everyone is different in terms of their recovery and what job they do, but how ...

Re: Longest Time In Braces Pre-Surgery?
I'm not sure to be honest. I think every tooth has been moved because both my midlines were off centre. At one point a couple of teeth went backwards so that slowed things down a few months.
I was feeling ok about surgery when i researched it 6 years ago, getting really scared now

Longest Time In Braces Pre-Surgery?
What is the longest time that anyone has been in braces prior to surgery?
I've been in braces for 6 years and 10 days now *sigh*.
I finally have an appointment to see the surgeon on the 10th July so maybe I'll get a surgery date but I'm not holding my breath.
