If your smile bothers you, just move forward. Of course it is awkward at first, not knowing if you should try to hide them or pretend they aren't there, but honestly, with ceramics, people really don't seem to notice. As a matter of fact, I ran into some friends from town a few weeks ago and had a c...

The biggest shock for me (ceramic upper/metal lower) was the bulkiness. I imagined they would feel like my teeth had something on them, but I really wasn't prepared for how much depth they added. When I first looked in the mirror, I was trying to figure out what to do with my lips. They let me take ...

I had a very thin weaved wire at first and my brackets broke off almost every day. The third time I visited them for a repair, they put on a thicker wire and I haven't had a problem since. I'm on my third wire and have my second adjustment in 2 weeks so it will be interesting to see what happens as ...

When mine break, my office will see me that day if it is before 3:00 or the day after if it is later. It appears I am very lucky in that regard. The first couple of weeks, I was breaking them off and going in several times a week for a fix. They never make me feel bad and always encourage me to call...

Did anyone see this on Good Morning America this morning? Just wondering if there were any drawbacks. Too late for me but I still have several kids that will need them...

Hello. I am finishing up week 4. I never experienced pain, just a mild discomfort. I never used any pain killers or wax. The biggest problem for me has been bulkiness and sleeping. Bulkiness because they take up much more space than I thought they would (ceramic uppers, metal lowers). I still feel l...

TigerLily, That made me laugh! I have to say I am quite nervous about the possibility of a molar band down the road myself. During week 1, I'm a newbie, I was chewing on a chunk of Gruyere (which I didn't think was that hard) and lost the last bracket which holds my archwire (sorry, don't know the t...

I recently purchased one because I think it's gross to use a brush to dig out the food particles. It works like a charm although I wish I could use it while looking in a mirror. It would be so much more effective. Purchased it off through ebates.com on drugstore.com so I was able to apply drugstore....

Ya' know, since my braces were put on 3 weeks ago, I don't think I've had a decent night's sleep. For some reason, I now wake up several times a night on my back (always slept on my side) with my mouth wide open. I was wondering if perhaps unconsciously my cheeks are irritated when I sleep on my sid...

I don't have molar bands either and from what I've heard, I thank my lucky stars. It seems the whole spacer thing seems to be an excruciating ordeal in preparation for the molar bands. I joke that my ortho took pitty upon me because I'm old.

Regards,

Crazy Suction Action

Hello all. I've been braced for about 3 weeks now and so far so good. No pain, just still awkwardness when seeing people for the first time and me feeling like I have to explain myself. The inside of my mouth and lips has toughened up and I'm beginning to be able to eat more naturally. I do brush ev...

It wasn't that bad...

Good afternoon. So tomorrow will be one week. It wasn't that bad. The anticipation was worse than anything. I think my minimal pain is mostly because I didn't have to get those molar bands. I had no problem with my business trip other than having to repeat my story for the inquiring minds... The wor...

UGHBRACES: I have to say that any delays I've experienced have been self imposed. It did take a while for me to get into the oral surgeon, but mostly my horrible travel schedule and being afraid to take the plunge at my age(I'm in my 40's). Although I managed to finally make the call, I nearly fell ...

My, oh my, I'm going to cry!

Hello all. I finally mustered up enough courage to go through with orthodontics and surgery so yesterday was the day I made the call. Much to my surprise, I'm getting my braces on tomorrow! What? Yes, that quick! Here are the good points: 1. I don't have to have those dreaded spacers. 2. I don't hav...

Good evening. First I'd like to thank everyone for taking time to reply. Since my original post, I've done hours of searching on the internet to find unfavorable results and have to say it seems like the minority. I think you're right about my husband being afraid of the surgery in general. It's act...
