I went to a dentist for my Invisalign partly because I will need crowns on 2 of my upper molars soon and I didn't want to have to go back and forth between doctors if I needed the crowns during Invisalign. I asked the dentist and he said if I needed a crown during treatment he would place a temporar...

My 2nd or 3rd aligner had a defect. My lower aligner was rounded off too much over one of my canines, so it didn't sit on that tooth and the adjacent teeth well. I compared it too the previous and next aligner and it was clearly rounded off instead of pointy like my canine. So, yeah, these things ca...

I usually clean them with a toothbrush under cold water right after I take them out, then put them in a bowl of water so that any minerals in the water don't dry onto them. If I am just having a quick drink and putting them back in, then I am not as diligent with cleaning them. Also, if I am out I j...

There have been other threads on here about braces or Invisalign changing the appearance of one's face. I believe they can change the appearance slightly which may be noticeable to other people. On the other hand, you may just be spending more time looking at your teeth, mouth and face, so now you a...

I noticed on the 4th set. My upper premolars were moving outward to correct a crossbite, and looking straight in the mirror I noticed I could see them a little, but before they were hidden behind my canines. My lower canines needed to be rotated, but didn't start rotating until my 6th set, but after...

Yeah, I agree. Seems like most people I told aren't too interested. If I say I'm having my teeth straightened, they say they didn't think my teeth were crooked. And if people are worried that they'll seem vain for getting Invisalign, they can just say they are doing it to correct their bite not thei...

I'm not sure exactly, but perhaps the person with 15/15 has an easier case. I know it's only 2 aligners less, but maybe you have crowding that needs to be checked more frequently and the other person only has spaces/gaps that are being closed, so he requires less checkups. They may anticipate refine...

I go to a dentist, not an orthodontist. Anyway, I have always had to go in every 4 weeks at most (except one time it was 6 weeks). So I usually got 2 sets per visit. Many visits were only with an assistant and if she saw a potential problem she could get the dentist to take a look. So I'd go in ever...

It takes a little experimenting with the hook to find the best procedure to remove the aligners. For example, on my uppers I start by pulling the aligner down near the molars on one side on the outside, then I use the hook near the premolars but on the inside edge of the aligner (tongue side). After...

It took me about 7 weeks to get my refinements. That was during November and December last year, so around the holidays. Some of the time required is for the doctor to go back and forth with Invisalign to make adjustments to the plan. I'm in California, but I doubt that matters much because even gro...

I keep all 28 sets of my first series in a plastic bag. I have a new bag for my refinement set. I figured I paid about $150 per set so they are too valuable to throw out. And if I ever want to go back to how I had my teeth originally, I can wear them in reverse order.

I have noticed more too! But it's not all bad. I notice what makes someone's smile unique, how a particular tooth is a little crooked, etc. I still might think they have a beautiful smile. My mother told me once that when she meets someone she knew when she was young that their teeth/smiles always l...

I had all of my wisdom teeth removed just before I started Invisalign. My dentist had the clincheck made under the assumption that my wisdom teeth would be removed. A bottom one was completely in. If your wisdom teeth aren't completely through the gums yet then the aligners would probably be made to...

It doesn't sound bad since you only needed 2 veneers. You're right, having to wear Invisalign for 2 years is a pain. You're lucky that you only had a few teeth out of place. Many of us have several teeth that need to be straightened to getting veneers wouldn't make sense. About your comment ".....
