hi Ken

Hi Ken, I haven't been on here for a while, but it is good to read your story again. I guess perio problems never really go away completely. I am mostly obsessive about brushing, but have had odd bits of bleeding gums when eg I ate a load of spare icing after making my daughter's birthday cake and d...

gum recession

I think things can be done for this by the ortho, but I guess this would not be done with many teeth. Anyway, my ortho just pulled my right front right tooth down and it brought the gum back down to form a proper arch. She then shaved the tooth off where it was now too long. The gum is still receded...

retainers

My braces are coming off this week, and as I am getting a bonded retainer I was very interested in all the comments here. I didn't know anything about retainers cept my ortho says that it will be easier cleaning the retainer than braces. I was so excited when the ortho said the braces are coming off...

hi

hi, ripchord and everyone here, Haven't posted for a while, but just wanted to share this: I was very excited yesterday when told that I am now 'in the last phase of treatment'. Don't know exactly what this means, but my ortho looked very carefully at my face and bent the new wires so teeth at the ...

hi

hi, ITeahMY, Congratulations on deciding to get braces!! It will be really nice getting braces at the same time as your son, a reall mutual support thing... Your question: as I've had periodontal disease, too, I'll answer from my experience, and hope this helps... At times my orthodontist has gone q...

hi

hi, Bracesweden, Good to hear from you, and so glad the braces are going well. I've had perio problems, too, and am also seeing what a big difference braces make. This is mainly that I feel I look a whole lot better, but my dentist says my gums and teeth look a whole lot healthier just due to the br...

hi, gokix

hi, gokix, Congratulations on deciding to get braced! Glad the spacers aren't causing too many probs. My ortho said not to eat toffees or chewing gun while the spacers were in, but not to worry if they came out. One came out a couple of days before Brace Day, and it had done its job - the gap was b...

Hi, ripchord

Hi, ripchord, Thanks for the congrats. One year really does seem a milestone, esp as I felt SO self-conscious when braces first on and now can't imagine life without them!! Ken: so glad the teeth are on the move again! Lucky you to have coloured powerchains (my ortho just does clear)! Still, I'll j...

hi Athy and Ken

Athy, how great to be nearly brace-free!! You must be counting the days! Wonder if yr mouth will feel empty without all the metalwork, tho? I kinda do feel it's like strange jewellery, so spose I'd have to buy some more rings or bangles etc., to make up... Today is a strange day for me as it is 1 y...

Brace Day 1st Anniversary!

Bit of a worry about braces last few days. Nearly posted something here eg 'Help! What shall I do?' but in end phoned ortho. Thing is the gap between my front teeth has opened up again since my last adjustment on 23rd March! It's nothing like it was, but noticeable (my hubbie likes to be reassuring...

hi, catfish You must be pleased all the surgery and extractions are over, but really glad you'll now be able to get your teeth upright as you want them. What a lot you have been through!! I do feel for you... The grey power chain looks nice. My ortho just puts clear on (not so good when I had a tak...

good luck

Hi, Ken, So sorry you have to have surgery. Good luck on Monday! My April Fool idea; I make an appointment to see my dentist and say I'm fed up with all this dentist and ortho stuff and want all my teeth taken out! I've a National Health dentist and am fairly sure I'd get dentures for free - so it w...
