Thank you for all your lovely comments. I am getting used to my new smile now, and got some lovely reactions from people at work yesterday too :D I'm looking forward to my best friend seeing me for the first time tomorrow! My retainers should arrive today. So far my teeth seem to have been pretty we...

Forgot to mention, there are a few areas which could still be better, but I am not worried about them: The bite on the left side is not as tight as on the right, and I have a small space between the canine/incisor area when I bite together, but the bite is perfectly functional, and I think it's pure...

Sorry - having a problem with photo sizes, and some of them are huge despite me selecting the 'small' size option on the website! http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii250/SarahVKirk/DSC03863.jpg http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/ii250/SarahVKirk/DSC06229_2.jpg New Smile http://i266.photobucket.com/...

I got mine at my last adjustment, 11 months into a 2 year treatment. If your bite is very malaligned you may get them early on in your treatment, but if not, your ortho may prefer to straighten the teeth first, then work on the bite with elastics after this.

My ortho is not putting brackets on my wisdom teeth, he says that they don't normally cause too much of a problem with the overall bite and result, so it's not worth it - this was an unexpected surprise for me as it meant we were ready to move on to closing the gaps in my teeth! I am a bit concerned...

Ditto Tumbledrylow.... I have said in other posts that I found Oral-B Satin Tape the easiest floss to use. Because it's coated, it's really easy to slip between tight teeth, especially when they are sore after adjustments, and it does indeed come out with a slight bend, which makes it easy to get un...

I had my braces fitted August last year, and I am pleased to say that I was lucky enough to suffer virtually no rubbing from the brackets. Here are my tips (most of them were gained from this website  ) 1) Drink plenty of water - if you keep hydrated the tissue remains moist and is less likely...

I just wrote a huge entry detailing all that I have had done since my last post, and then accidently deleted it all  arrrgghhhh So I will quickly put the photos up here, and endeavour to update properly tomorrow! These photos are from August 2008 (Brace day) to June 2009. I have had another...

I was a neat brusher before braces.... not any more though!! When I do my evening brush with my electric toothbrush, I manage well on the inner surfaces until I get to my front teeth, and then when I change to the ortho head and start to tackle the brackets, I think I resemble something not too diss...

Hi all, I can't believe I have left it so long since doing my last update!! I am pleased to say there has been lots of progress. I have had my 3rd adjustment on my uppers, 2nd on my lowers - during this time I have stuck with silver ligs on the top, and tried metallic blue on the bottom (for winter)...

Hi Rachel B, I have also been frustrated by the staining to my glue, despite cleaning after each meal, and my ortho reporting my cleanliness as 'impeccable'. I drink a few cups of tea each day, and I definitely find that swishing with water helps to avoid too much yellow staining to the glue. My den...

I like a combination of manual and electric to 'scrub my scaffolding'! I use a Colgate Orthodontic brush to clean the front surface of my teeth and my braces in the morning and after lunch, and a standard Colgate brush to brush the inner and biting surfaces of my teeth. For my last brush of the day,...
