My sensations are very stranger. The right side has about 80% feeling back in it, but still feels alittle "stretched". When I touch the left side lightly, I get MAJOR tingles, but if I poke anywhwere with a toothpick I can't feel anything at all. I also still get the "wet" feelin...

17 Months Post Op PICS!

I had LeForte I and BSSO surgery on January 16, 2009. Although my lower lip and chin are still mostly numb (I've had some tingles for many months now, but no actual feeling...frustrating!!), everything else has been a complete success :D . My braces came off in October of 2009 and I don't regret any...

I had Lefort I and BSSO in January of 2009 and my entire bottom lip and chin are still numb. I've had the pins and needles sensation in them for about 10 months now, which at first the doctor said was a sign of returning feeling, but it has not progressed. I constantly feel like my lip and chin are ...

Thanks everyone! Just had my first (and last) post op appt without braces today. Doc is very happy with everything. He feel confident I will get all of my feeling back, but he said it could take "years" for complete nerve healing. He also said my bones have healed wonderfully and should be...

I'm finally nekkid!....well almost

After being braced on February 28, 2008 and having LeFort I and BSSO on January 16, 2009, I have finally been debanded! My subject says I'm "almost" done because I did opt to do the "prefinisher" appliance instead of keeping the braces for another few months. I'm not sure how I f...

I am almost 8 months out of double jaw surgery now and have been back to horseback riding for about 4 months now. Although I don't take any "shots to the face", just the jarring of my jaw is still EXTREMELY sore when I ride. I'm pretty sure it's more the muscles than the jaw itself, howeve...

My biggest life saver was having a mirror handy. My entire face was numb so I used a mirror every time I ate/drank anything so I made sure I was getting it in my mouth, and to wipe up all the drool from my chin. One that sits up on the table by itself is ideal. Good luck with everything...you'll do ...

My ortho also was very concerned and worried that I was not opening wider than what I was. However, when I contacted my surgeon about it, he told me I was actually opening alittle wider than he would have expected at that point. Each doctor is different, but in many cases I don't think the orthos qu...

I think I had heard that bones are completely healed for 8 months....but I could be totally wrong. I think your best bet is to speak with your surgeon and ask when it would be "safe" for you to resume your kickboxing. Good luck with everything!

Thought it's about time I updated my drama for everyone. At my ortho appointment last week I had good and bad news. Bad news...I have an abcess on my lower molar. He removed the band and I am now waiting to go back to my surgeon's office to have some deep tissue scaling done on Friday. That along wi...

I was lucky. Since the hospital was in network for me, I'm only going to end up paying about $500 of the $94,000. The thing that is upsetting is that in the breakdown of what my insurance paid, well over HALF of the amount was written off by the hospital. If they can afford to write that much off, t...
