Oops. I don't mean to frighten anyone. It DOES get better. The first day is the worst then you get used to it - even the minor discomfort. Really it's not terrible; more annoying than anything else. If I handled it for 11 months, anyone can!

My TPA was on for 11 months and my experience was like Dani1983. The reason for my TPA was to stabilize my very back molars during the process of correcting my crossbite. It became embedded, I experienced sore spots occasionally and the salt water rinses help considerably. And, yes, food gets hung u...

Thank you, thank you for all the great support! Your day will come too; it really does go by fast although it does not seem to while going through the process. Don't be jealous CactusZAF. If you've made it this far your day must be coming soon. Kharmynn, I remember coming upon this website about 2 y...

Debanded!

19 months since full metal braces on, my OD removed them yesterday! Did not hurt a bit, just a bit of pressure. Awaiting Hawley's in very cool brown with speckels which should be in next week. I love my smile and so does everyone else. As you can imagine, I'm smiling a lot. I told no one about my de...

Terrific!

You were braced for quite some time. I'm (I hope) about 1/2 way through the process and look forward to naked teeth like yours!

Congrats!

TDL - Funny you should mention Powerchain as IT WAS installed about an hour ago right after I asked, "When do we get to close up those gaps in between my molars where all kinds of food gets lodged??" No sooner did I ask when Voila! - that tight Powerchain went on! It is a bit uncomfortable...

My TPA is being removed TOMORROW!! It's been in place for 11 months. Not many problems along the way with the exception that it got imbedded into one side of the roof of my mouth once so it was re-bent and re-installed which made for 1 month of molar pain - the molars it's attached to. Ouch. Now tho...

Well let me join the club! "Moan, yadda": I, too, have had an ulcer this week on my lower lip due to a wire tie that decided to poke its way through the inside of my lip several times because that tooth rotated. Ok, ok, that's the intended movement. Back to using loads of wax. And my lip, ...

Re: So confused...

I'll never be truly happy with my teeth unless they are fixed. There you have it...........Go for it. It does not hurt to ask. I'm over 40 and my pro-active DDS told me I was heading for major trouble if I did not consider fixing my seemingly minor problems now. (crowding, crossbite, TMJ, etc, etc....

Welcome to the journey! Hey, you're not whining and you've definetly found the right group here for encouragement. Sounds as though you are doing all the right things; waterpik, learning the new flossing arrangement (I sit in front of a mirror and use Superfloss w/self threader and thick then thin t...

Muppet & Diande - I dream of your express adjustment visits! Can I go to your OD? Although, I really, really do like mine and all of the well-qualified and very pleasant staff. Each one stops by my chair to chat. Hmm, as I type perhaps this reveals why my visits are lenghty?? The BEST part of th...

Terrific progress!

I know just what you mean about the lower teeth not quite fitting into the upper for a decent bite. I feel like my jaw has nowhere to go.

I'm keeping my positive attitude............

Aha, perhaps that's why I've no pain; the same wire is still there.

Thanks for the heads up on the thicker wire. I'll be ready............!
