I have had a powerchain since the beginning and yes they do hurt almost instantly. You will be sensitive for a few days, my best advice though is to seriously try eating/chewing soft foods as soon as you can. Start with bread or pasta, something like that. It will help them get better a bit faster.

Thanks all... Now thinking about it, it probably is an anchor, as I am having my canine on the top left brought down Finally (YAY) and the canine on the right got pushed too far over to the right so they are pulling it back toward the center again with a powerchain. So I guess it would make sense to...

Double ligs

Quick Question. I have double ligs across my top front teeth. So I have the wire, then metal wire ties on top of that that are tied across all the front and then rubber ligs on top of that. Does anyone know why this is done?

Well I don't have an overbite, or a front gap, but I had some serious crowding. Anyway in the process my right side top now angles up so I have a gap on that side between my top and bottom teeth. I also now have a gap between my 2 front teeth due to a powerchain trying to pull up another tooth nect ...

you usually have spacers in front of and behind your next to the back molars. So you would have 8 total (as long as you're not missing any molars). I don't think it will cause you to lose the baby tooth, it just creates enough space to fit the molar bands. And although they are a nuisance at first y...

I am very optimistic about the whole thing. although this morning I woke up in a ton of pain and my husband's so funny he goes "well can you go back so they can loosen them some?" So I had to explain they don't actually "tighten them". Anyway here are some pictures of the new set...

Hi melissa your teeth are looking great. I don't know that they're supposed to feel "tight" all the time after about a week I don't notice them anymore when I have mine adjusted. In fact sometimes I forget except when I have to brush. But good luck.

I just read your story and so far so good it seems. I was a preschool teacher when I had my bracecs on and it was actually quite funny at first and now my kids always ask to see them or request certain colors. I have just regular metal brackets so I can't relate on the lingual part but I do understa...

your lips will just get used to it and won't get caught on the hooks soon. wax helps some with getting them to glide easily but I would give it a good month before it feels "normal"

I laughed when I read this because when I first got my braces I remember posting about drueling. I would druel like crazy, and choking I can't count the number of times my husband has had to come "save the day" lol slowing down helped out a bunch although I'm not very good at the cut it up...

So I had my 2nd adjusment today and as usual I sit in the chair open up and they begin taking everyhting out. Well as the assistant was taking out the top wire she says huh. I'm like ok what's the deal. So she tells me that the wire was not in the band on my right hand side. So she attempts to put t...
