Thanks for all the kind words! You all don't know how much it means and, frankly, how good it feels, to hear these nice things said about my own teeth...It has helped to totally make the whole ordeal worth it!! Anyhow, to answer a couple of questions about my treatment that were asked: I wore two se...

A Smashing Success - I'm Done!

Hi all. I've been (mostly) lurking here for the last few years in the time leading up to, and during, my ortho treatment. This board is a great resource! I thought I would share with you two before and after photos to summarize my successful treatment. Before you look at the photos just remember som...

JBJ, I had a very similar experience to you when shopping for orthodontic services. I had serious overcrowding issues, like you, and went to two different orthos and got two very different opinions. Ortho #1 refused to even touch my mouth unless I got the surgery (as well as 4 extractions.) Ortho #2...

Updated 6/7/06 - June 6, 2006. The obstinate tooth is a little more "in line" with the rest. But many minor annoyances are there still. The obstinate tooth has made a lot of movement but there is still a lot of torque there...the top of the tooth is further forward than the bottom. Also, s...

There is nothing at all wrong with asking for a specific assistant. In my opinion, there is nothing rude about requesting a particular person. If anything, it may reflect well on them that someone is requesting them personally. As for being treated poorly by certain assistants... :( Personally, I we...

Not that my ortho tells me any of these details - I instead pick them up when he is barking out orders to his assistants. I believe I have a 12 on the bottom and a 14 on the top

How did you chip yours? I fell on a gym floor when i was 8. I got in a bike accident when I was about 13-14. I was riding down the street against traffic and some van pulled out right in front of me and I smacked right into it  I'll check your thread, too. I need to get ideas about what exac...

Do you plan to get some bonding on the top chipped tooth when you're all done? Just wondering. Thanks for the encouragement. It feels good when other people recognize your progress, too. The one dentist I've been going to says I should get some kind of cap on it (the kind where they have to saw you...

There could be a couple of reasons for your lack of noticing any progress. 1. You look in the mirror everyday. Sometimes with braces, the movement of the teeth can be ever so slight. If you look at your teeth everyday, you may not notice it. 2. Perhaps your ortho is working on a particular problem a...

"An Orthodontic Miracle" - UPDATED 6/7/06

My teeth have always been horrible and have just gotten worse and worse. When I was 19-20 and my wisdom teeth came in they made the problem even worse. I had severe crowding and chipped teeth. Finally, after getting a job with insurance that covers adult orthodontics, I decided to look into getting ...

I also had a very poor experience with the first ortho I visited. As soon as he came in the room and started examining my mouth he asked me who my dentist was. After I told him his reply was (in the most ocean tone I've ever heard from a dentist/ortho), "And he just NOW told you that you need b...
