Re: Long term use of retainers

Thank you for your posts. Snowglobe32 I brush them with water after every use, and after a few uses I use a Retainer Brite tablet. I admit I could do better in this department and have been considering trying an electronic ultrasonic cleaner. Bikerchick85 I fully intend to wear mine as long as I fee...

Long term use of retainers

Hello, I don't suppose many people check back on here 4 years after having their braces off, but someone may be able to advise. So 4 years on and I'm still wearing my Essix retainers maybe 3 nights a week. I'd love to cut down more but on occasions when I have gone 4-5 days without wearing them they...

Re: 20 months in retainers

Thanks for your reply. Makes perfect sense I guess, and glad it's not just me! I suppose being adults our teeth may be more inclined to move back than younger patients so I'll just have to live with it. Better than having **** teeth isn't it

20 months in retainers

Hi, It's been a while since I logged into here, as I lost my braces back in December 2009. I don't know if anyone here will identify with my situation as I guess most will forget this site when they reach my stage! I've been wearing my retainers nightly almost without fail since they came off. I exp...

It's been a while

Hello, long time since I've been on here! That is because it's almost a year since I saw my orthodontist, when I was reduced from wearing retainers 24/7 to just night times. I was expecting another check up 9 months on, and to be advised on further reductions in wear, but after calling them to check...

Essix - now down to nights only

This week I was told I no longer need to wear my Essix retainers during the day after 3 months :jump:

However I do think my teeth move during the day as they're very tight when I put them back in at night. Have others experienced this, and is it OK? Thanks!

Seriously, it's not possible! The only thing I ever tried with mine in was chewing gum and simply couldn't do it - the fact that it stuck to the retainer didn't help either! I also only ever drank water - anything coloured will stain, anything hot might damage them and you don't want anything sugary...

Essix, 1 week in

OK, I've been wearing these things 24/7 for a week now. Or at least as much as possible - a few hours off for eating, and I was a bit naughty on the night of our Christmas party ;) Anyway, I have no problem putting them in, and they're fine once they're in. But taking them out worries me. The upper ...

Mercifully I can now update with the news that they came off. But note to future Essix wearers: the first time you remove them isn't nice! I sure hope it gets easier!

Well, it was enjoyable while it lasted. I now have these stupid plastic retainers moulded to my teeth and can't get them off. No dinner for me tonight then.

I'm done...

Hi folks...well, I'm done. Today was the day. It's good to smile. See my www below for the results. Anyway, I have 2 questions for fellow post-bracers... 1. They missed a fair bit while cleaning afterwards. I mean, they look great but there's a few rough bits you can't see that I can feel with my to...

And now, 2 years to the day after losing 4 teeth: the moment of truth... http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj38/c00ky83/DSC01404a.jpg First thoughts: - it feels weird after all this time! - the removal process was not pleasant...like most of the process really - my teeth feel weak without all that ...

Nearly there, but one tooth too tall?

6 weeks today I'll be de-braced, so I think I'm now entitled to post here! Not sure if anyone has covered this before but one of my lower incisors is a little "tall" and sticks up above the rest (see my www link). I was told he'd fix this on the big day, but that sounds nasty to me! Any ex...

Right then folks, this will be the last picture I post with braces on :jump: http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj38/c00ky83/DSC01264a.jpg Following my last post, this week's appointment came a little bit too soon...but I have confirmation that they will be removed on 7th December, 4 days short of 2...
