Mine touches the palate, although there is a little gap towards the center of the roof of my mouth.

Essix retainer mold question

How and when are molds for Essix retainers done? My ortho said at my next appointment he was going to remove some of the back braces, place a fixed retainer on my lowers and do an impression for the Essix for the top teeth. How can he do that if there are still brackets on my front teeth?

Impressions for Essix question

Next week I go in and some of my back brackets will be removed. My ortho is going to at that appointment, put a bonded retainer on the lower teeth and do impressions for an Essix on the uppers. My question is how do they do impressions when there are still brackets on the front teeth?? Essix is supp...

Gaps developing - debanding soon.

My doctor said in 4 weeks we'd "see about a retainer". He doesn't communicate well, and in fact uttered these words as his back was to me leaving the room. But at that last appointment he took off the power chain that had been in place along the side of my upper teeth. Those teeth have bee...

I've found that when it's hot out my wax misbehaves. When I was in Michigan recently I ran some wax under very cold water from the tap and it stuck great.

Sensodyne saved my life! I never used it before getting braced, now I won't use anything else. However I found that I still had sensitivity if I used the whitening formula, so stick to the regular.

Good luck! It's a long haul, but hopefully worth it in the end.

I have clear on top and bottom and I'm glad. My bottom teeth actually are pretty noticeable when I talk and smile. My total bill was aver $6500, so the extra couple hundred seemed small in comparison to the total. By the way, I agree that the ceramics feel big on the top but aren't that bothersome o...

Are you female? I only ask because I notice that at certain "times of the month" when my body is retaining water, it's like all the moisture from my mouth is sucked dry and I have the same problem you're describing. But the next week things seem to go back to normal.

I've gone from 138 lbs to 125. The braces certainly have been a part of it. Not that I can't eat but rather there isn't a lot of pleasure to be derived from it. So eating has become more a necessity. I also got back on track with my exercise routine around the same time I got braced. My one guilty p...

Thanks for the feedback. I called this morning and they had me come back in. They put in new molar build-ups (or bite plains, as they call them), but no turbo. I actually prefer it, because with out the build ups I was constantly biting my cheeks with my brackets, in addition to the bumping of the f...

Turbo gone; hitting brackets

At my first adjustment my ortho removed my bite turbo and molar build ups he put on the day he did brackets. Now two weeks later my top teeth are bumping into my bottom brackets to the point where it's causing mild discomfort. I'm also worried about the clenching that I do at night. When I initially...
