Hi Kitten, I live on Welsh borders but work in Birmingham, so I have a private ortho there for convenience. I had major crowding and a bite that only met at two teeth. I had 2 upper molars removed, 2 lower pre molars and have clear ceramic braces top and bottom for estimated 20 months (although my f...

Hi KLC, ditto to all Danish said. You said you are moving your front teeth back to close the gaps, which is the best case scenario. I had 2 upper main molars removed and believe me, they were HUGE gaps! My ortho is aiming to get my other back molars to move forward to close half these gaps, with fro...

£6000 is quite expensive, even for the UK! Of course it depends on what you are having done. My son was quoted that for upper and lower linguals with full treatment plan including during retainers - linguals are more expensive than any conventional braces. My own plan is £3500 including upper and ...

Just my own experience but my large gaps were filled almost entirely from the front. Back molars have moved a bit - maybe 2/3mm but extraction gaps were filled in the main from front teeth moving backwards. Having said that, my gaps were like 10mm at least, but my front teeth havent moved back by 10...

Hi Martin, geesh, your teeth are lookin waaaay better than mine and I started before you!!!!!!!! ;) I hope you are thrilled dude, coz you should be, as your teeth look awesome. I see you don't have molar bands on the bottom? I have molar bands on the bottom (just had them on at the back) and they ar...

Hi Pitterpat, dont worry about how many teeth you do (or dont) have. I worried about this endlessly but you shouldnt. I am a woman of 6 feet 2, so am a pretty large framed lady, but all my teeth dont fit in my mouth! I had my upper canines extracted as a child and to have my ortho treatment now (age...

Time for an update
Sorry its taken me a while - I hope I can remember how to code the pics! I have been meaning to post progress and see how others are doing but been so busy at work and also been overseas in South Africa, Switzerland and god knows where. Back to the relentless rain in England now :( (what happened to...

Hi Sparkles, calm down girl! I had some HUGE visibly apparent movement in the first 3 months but its all much less noticeable to others now but the change is more dramatic for me. My bite changes daily and even though one can see nothing happening from looking at my teeth, the wires and where my tee...

I have asked this question but there appears to be no conclusive answer. I have had powerchains on for a month and I now have about 2 - 3mm of pokey wire at the end bracket each side top and bottom but I still struggle to get floss between my molars, so they arent doing any moving. I am going to ask...

Thanks for your replies :) I would actually like the bottom ones to move. My gaps are the same top and bottom now (although I had molars extracted on the top and premolars on the bottom) but I dont want my front teeth to go back all the way. To be honest I am a little paranoid about the 'sunken' fac...

Gaps!
Okay, sorry if this has been covered before.... I will do an update soon and see if I can post some pics tomorow but after months (well years - decades even!) of waiting for the braces to go on, I blinked and 6 months went by! I had my braces on in Jan 08 and I am now in powerchains to start closing...

Hi Jo! there are quite a few Brits on here - including a few 'oldies'! I had my braces on in January of this year and I have just turned 48. I just had my 4th adjustment and I am already in possession of straight teeth, just have to level and close the gaps now. Its the best £3grand I have ever spe...

After I was braced just 2 days I bit on a piece of chocolate round the side (cos I couldnt bite on the front) and heard a 'crack' along with a sharp pain. My second (?) premolar (furthest one back) was wobbling all over the place and I cried all night. I too could move it with my tongue. Dentist too...
