Welcome, I'm another over 50 new at braces. One thing I have heard quite a few times is that the braces make me look younger, I like hearing that.
I have turbos and you do get used to them, just go slow for now and remember to cut up your food.
Good luck!

Please remind me to take my Advil for my next adjustment !

On my second adjustment I just got a thicker wire.

I forgot about the pain, it's amazing how fast teeth get sore.

I know it's just for a few days til I get used to it again.

Hi Kendra, and welcome. Yes it is exciting, I'm over 50 and something that I've always wanted to do. You will like reading these posts, I guess it is comforting to know that there are many others out there going through the same things. On your brace day, eat before you go and plan a lite meal for l...

Well I forgot to update this post, I had my teeth cleaned with the wire in and they never said anything about asking to remove the wire so I didn't bring it up. They said I was doing a great job with keeping everything clean, even after that they insisted that I have another cleaning in 3 months. Ev...

Archwire in or out for my cleaning?

My dentist asked that I get my archwire removed for my cleanings,
What do you do, in or out?
My dentist and ortho are in different parts of town also seems like alot of work removing the wire when they could work around it.

thanks,
Jerry

Hi,

I have the turbos which I got on the same day as being braced, they didn't warn me about this.
Because of the turbos my back teeth do not close quite all the way but i am able to eat ok, they do take a few days to get used to though.

Good luck.

hi, I'm not from SC but did spend some time looking for the right ortho. I would keep looking and you will know when you find the right one. Everyone in the office should be helpful and friendly, not just the ortho as the others will be working on you also. I went to 4 ortho for free consults, one w...

hi,
I have turbos, never heard of them before last week, but they were put on when I was biting on my brackets. I can say that they take getting used to but that they aren't too bad now. I do eat slowly because it seems sharp and I wouldn't want to bite my tongue.

Hang in there, you'll get used to the braces soon in the meantime think about how beautiful your smile will be someday.

I guess I'm lucky as I don't get pain but I sure can't stand cleaning after eating.

Good luck and keep on this forum, it helps alot knowing that there is a bunch of us out here 8)

I would go for a few more consults, I went to four, and they were all free, they all included xrays and photos. If he was going to fast ask him to slow down and expain, you're going to be wearing braces for a long time so make sure you take your time while deciding. I went with the damon system. Jerry
