Hi there! Yup, had my lower left archwire span a molar gap from an extraction. The wire end kept slipping out of its tunnel in the band and poking the heck out of my inner cheek like a needle. It broke in about 3 wks, was replaced, broke again. Broke a third time and I swallowed the darn thing - tha...

Don't know what you have, but one of my adjustments the ortho did an "overlay" wire - so that I had two archwires threaded through the front 6 lower brackets for a while. This was early on in treatment. Is this sort of like what you have?

DO IT NOW! Even if it costs you money out of pocket, get started with the treatment ASAP. That also means that they'll be off ASAP, think about it. There will always be many excuses, reasons, rationalizations.... But although frankly, at my age the whole braces thing hasn't exactly been a piece of c...

Re: ligs - try pink, they seem to stain less and be less visible than other colors for some reason, and don't make your teeth look yellow-y. Blue seems to pick up stains and discolor rather readily at least for me... The grey might work - If you try it, write about it! Re: Teeth staining - I have sa...

Hi matsu! I am wondering how long my gap will take to close too, but then again I have to trust my ortho to make things look right in the end. I absolutely know that the gap looks and feels HUGE to ME - sorta like a pimple that you think everyone else notices because it is so obvious to you - but no...

I have converted to the daily religion of WAX - can't live without it; bleed, ulcerate and swell without it, so why not? Can't say how many packets I've gone through - have them parked everywhere I frequent and always one or two at hand. Can't eat with it on, though, yuck! I've probably swallowed en...

Chin up, doll - from another gal age 49, almost 3 months into braces! At my age I know what I want and to heck with anyone with a negative comment! I've waited so long to be able to afford this, but the result is going to be a happier healthier *me* even if no one else notices the difference! I am s...

Oh poor baby! I think spacers have so far been the worst feature of getting braces. I had 2 (and a half!) rounds of both metal and little rubber disks. Both fell out regularly and had to be replaced. They are a bother! ummm, feels so good when they fall out! I never did get used to them being in, ev...

Helooo there!
First molar lower jaw gap - no movement even w/powerchain but dang did it hurt!
I am not sure what the ortho is gonna do about it and frankly can't see how the incisors will have enough room to straighten w/o that space.
Let me know what your ortho's solution is - I hope there is one!!!

Hi there! Braced in October also! My front teeth were so darn close it was almost impossible to floss so I developed tartar between where brushes and dentist's hygenists couldn't reach. Now that the teeth are moving, I can tell by how much because of the brown tartar lines! That might be a clue to w...

Hey - I don't know about you but I pay my ortho too much money to go around hurting for days/weeks after an appt. I've gone back to have them adjust wires, smooth edges off bands, fix 2 broken arch wires. I feel so much less guilty when I see the pix on his wall of the staff vacation to Hawaii he fu...

Great looking chompers, girl! If you don't have gaps that need closing (and it appears that you don't) perhaps the closing wire is to close your bite? Ask your ortho. If you close your teeth, and the molars aren't touching correctly when your front teeth meet, or vice versa (that your front teeth do...
