Kayt- You asked for someone in the medical professions advice. I am a RN. So hold on while I climb on to my soap box. Smoking before and after jaw surgery can cause impaired blood flow to the gums which can impair healing of your incisions and prolong your your recovery time. My OS said no smo...

YES! smoking after oral surgery can cause impaired blood flow and oxygen to the tissues that are trying to heal. Here is a quote from my post-op instruction book from my OS "YOU MUST NOT SMOKE OR USE OTHER TOBACCO PRODUCTS FOR AT LEAST 4 WEEKS AFTER SURGERY AS THIS CAN CREATE PROBLEMS WITH HEAL...

All people are different but I am 2 weeks post-op and I initially lost 10 lbs but have gained 2 back already. Weightloss wasn't much of an issue for me as most soft NO CHEW foods tend to be carbs. As for the splint. It is clear and fits over the top teeth. I have not had any problem with food gettin...

It is unlikely that anesthesia is giving you headaches at this point. The most likely cause is your body adjusting to the new positions of the bones in your face and the change in your bite. The pain meds are also often a cupret. I would suggest taking 600-800mg of Ibuprofen every 6hrs during the da...
