I am probably the only one here... but I just got mine today and the ortho insists on wearing it 24/7 for full 5 months

It is probably because I had really big movements and jaw surgeries, but still... 5 months?

I just wanted to say that the sense in my upper jaw and gums came back after longer than 2 years after the 1st surgery. I was not even hoping it would come back anymore, but it started like tingling, pain, then got the sense partially back and I believe it is still improving. So please, do not give ...

thank you. I will most probably let them remove the braces even with the shifted midline (mine is off by about 2 mm I believe). I believe my problem is the same as yours. I am missing a premolar on one side and thats probably why the midline refuses to shift to the correct position. It is funny real...

I regretted not doing it. :(
I had only upper jaw advancement, but had massive bleeding and had to receive a lot of blood from an unknown donor. Lets say I wasnt too happy about it. :(

I developed an eye pain probably from a nerve damage during the surgery. I am now being examined by eye specialist and probably a nerve doctor to find out what we can do about it. It did not bother me till about 2 months ago when my nerve regenerated and numbness in that area turned into permanent p...

So, do you think that debanding now might not be a bad choice? Doctor says my right side is perfect, but the left side sort of collapsed after surgery and even though it got better after ortho treatment, its still noticeable. They said if I am not too bothered with it, I could get the braces off in ...

Hmm, I asked few people around and they said they did not notice until I mentioned it, so its probably not so bad. I would post a pic, but I do not have a camera right now. This is my teeth about 3 months ago (and 4 months post-op) and now the midline is a tiny bit better, but close to this: http://...

srs: It means the middle of your 2 front teeth is not exactly in the middle of your face. For example when I smile, it is visible the teeth on a whole jaw are moved a little more to right and both sides of the jaw are not the same width. (It has also probably something to do with the fact that I am ...

trish222: Well, my treatment should be at the end anyway, because the doc said they usually keep them on for about 6 months post-op and its now 7 post-op with almost year in braces before the surgery. Orthos and maxfac surgeons did an amazing job on my mouth, its just the upper midline - a problem t...

Debanding with a shifted midline? Did it happen to anyone?

Hello, I should be debanded at the end of March 2010, but one of my molar bands just broke and slipped off and we stand before a problem. I could be debanded sooner, but my teeth are not perfect and my upper midline is still shifted by a milimeter or two. The last time I talked to my doctor, he said...

I asked if I am to donate blood for myself before my upper jaw surgery and the doc said I do not need any, because they expect a minimal blood loss, but when I woke up, I was informed that I had major bleeding during the surgery, needed spam spam and now must get a transfusion (from a stranger), bec...

This is me before and after. I think these pics are almost the same pose, expression and hair off the face, both with no makeup. The first one is before I started the surgeries somewhere in 2007. The other is now. I still need the cheekbones and area around the eyes repaired with orbital rim and che...

What seems off to me is the distance from end of the nose to the end of my teeth. It seems way too long for me, but it might be because I am still getting used to the new mouth. I also believe my nose has een pushed up a little, so it is even shorter than before, which adds to it. Then I noticed my ...
