Oh yeah, to clarify, the nights that I skipped were before I talked to the doc and confirmed that he really meant FOREVER

Maybe I should look into getting Hawleys then--maybe they would improve my mouth closing situation? It's awkward. My dentist said something similar to the "only wear the retainer as long as you want your teeth to be straight" line... "you don't have to floss all your teeth... only the...

Every night for the rest of my life?

Hi all! It's been a while since I've been here--I got debraced about 18 months ago, and then promptly moved out of the state where my ortho was located. He gave me a retainer plan for the next year, which I followed to the letter (I believe it was 24/7 wear for the first 6 months, 12-hour wear for 6...

Questions to ask at your consultation

Hi! I did a search on the forum, but couldn't find a thread that lists GENERAL questions people might want to ask at their initial consultations. If there already is one, forgive me! Aside from all the technical questions related to our individual cases, I wanted to start a list of questions people ...

Thanks for your responses! I did see my ortho and he confirmed that my last molars have moved, but doesn't seem to think this is a problem..? Anyway, he didn't do anything to address it and my debanding is still set for June 1. He did give me a little lecture on not sticking my tongue in the space, ...

I got metal because they were $500 cheaper and my ortho told me that in my case, treatment time would likely be a few months shorter with metal than with ceramic. I feel I made the right choice. I get them off on June 1 and for all the hassle braces have caused me, I've never agonized that I should ...

Well I just hope that they arent always 3 weeks apart.. I was told I pay them monthly lol and I dont need it to turn into 2x per month because then I'll be broke. You should still be paying them monthly regardless of how frequent your appointments are. I've never heard of anyone having to pay for e...

So I called my ortho today with my concerns and he is confident that the elastics will move the wayward canine in time. BUT since I last looked, my last molars on my left side are barely touching anymore, argh!! :? My doc de-bracketed my last molars so they are currently not hooked up to an archwire...

Woohoo, congrats... now let's hope those elastics do their job! WELL - so I was just looking at my health insurance and it actually covers 80% of the gingivectomy!! I assumed it didn't cover it since it's for cosmetic reasons but it actually says the word gingivectomy - 80% covered!! That is fabulou...

I'm guessing that they are offering a free consult because they are hoping they can woo you away from your other ortho, THEN get your money and start treatment on you. Kind of like how you see free A/C checks advertised at a lot of garages. :) I think it's good to get a second opinion, just trust yo...

Take chapstick to your appointment, and make sure you get wax from your ortho! If at all possible, try to do some chewing after you get your braces on. My ortho allowed me to chew sugarfree gum after being braced, and he gave me a piece of plastic (kind of like a teething ring, lol!) to chew on if I...

Hi Andromeda, I just caught up on your story and I really hope that tooth moves for you!!! I know it's a short time until your debanding date, but ya know how quickly teeth can move when they feel like it. I admire you for being proactive with your ortho... even if they are nice people it can still ...
