Re: Recovery

I was off work for (gulp) six weeks. No way I could have went back before three. The drooling and drinking and plugged nose were so terrible I just couldn't have. Also, with my jaw banded shut, no one could understand me and again I had to wear towel bibs from the drool. I felt pretty good by 5 week...

Re: Were you physically sick after your jaw op?

DId horribly after the first surgery using general anesthesia, nauseous, dizzy, disorientated, headache. After the 2nd, was absolutely fine. Go figure. Vomiting blood through a banded mouth was my BIGGEST concern post jaw surgery. And I was fine :)

Re: Jaw Surgery - Pregnant

THis has happened to me twice (two surprise pregnancies) and I've had the braces for 5 years during four surgeries. (I need two more). The only thing is long time in braces + pregnancy = rampant decay for me. They need to watch this carefully. They didn't for me and I ended up with fillings and root...

Re: Genioplasty hardware removal

I had this done in a subsequent surgery. I didn't notice a difference cosmetically, but it felt much, much nicer.

Re: Pontics on Braces While Awaiting Implants...

Not at all. They are wired in pretty well with the "old-fashioned" tie wires they used to use on each bracket.

Re: Pontics on Braces While Awaiting Implants...

I had ponics for a LONG time on my braces. They move around A LOT and food gets trapped on them. However, they are wired in and look nice so it was great to see what my teeth would look like down the road after (more) implants.

Re: 3 years post-surgery, what I think about my decision.

That is great to know! I had braces for 5 years and the decay was horrible post removal. :( I am just getting this all fixed now. It never stops!

Interesting. So the bite was off? Glad and fingers crossed that it appears to be a relatively easy fix.

Haven't been on in a while. Glad everything went well!! THe IV sedation is a must for implants.

Re: Changes to Nose

They cut a piece of bone under my nose and now it is more upturned, and less hook like. I need to post pictures. At first I didn't like it, and now I LOVE it.

It was pretty much a free nose job.
