Wednesday now, yesterday and today have been night time wear only and it seems fine. Retainers fit without being too tight, and come out easily in the morning. The sides of my tongue which got pretty chewed up the first days (like adjusting to molar bands) are now healing. So it will be in 6 months ...

plastic mouth

So I got my retainers yesterday. They are clear plastic molds of my teeth and fit very tightly, made by GAC. They are a harder product than I had with Invisalign, but otherwise quite similar. The palate is fully exposed. I am supposed to wear them 24/7 until Monday and then at night while I sleep. M...

Got mine off yesterday but got a bonded upper retainer right away...quite a surprise. Anyway, I had upper invisalign for a few months and hated it so I asked for Hawley retainers. THe ortho said to try the essix first with the bonded job and see how I like it. If it is not to my liking he'll switch ...

to each his or her own. I knew that I was not going to get the 100% perfect smile without jaw surgery which for the size of correction was just not worth it (even the surgeon said so.) I also knew I was doing this first and foremost for oral health not my looks. So the midline is not perfect but the...

Almost 14 1/2 months, a tad longer than expected. I was surprised how quickly the braces came off, all strung together on their wires! (Removal of bonding material and polishing takes longer.) I was not expecting the bonded retainer, but it is there now, and not a problem. When the other retainers c...

I paid in full with a credit card and got a 10% discount, (and a written guarantee of no extra charges even if it takes longer etc. That card has cash back for gas, medical, etc. Then I paid as much of it off as I could and transfered the balance to a no interest card offer for a year, which I have ...

OK so it's August and...yes I was away all summer...we're not there yet. Maybe mid-October, so I go in early that month to see if everything is cooperating. Still, the end is near. Looking forward to enjoying a nice crisp apple sometime this fall.

As a teacher I see lots of kids and actually many adults in braces and never really knew about the nerd status. Some kids with braces are nerdy some are not, and it's not their teeth.

I have just passed the one year mark of a 12 month estimated treatment program. I am not ready for debonding yet. My guess is three more months. I want it done right and get bothered when the ortho staff says "only one more visit" when I know that's not going to do it!
