Re: Life after braces - great!
@ Gravecat - I know it's uncomfortable at first, but I do recall the first month being the worst, it got so much easier. My ortho had recommended advil when I needed it and I did not hesitate to use it. However, it was amazing how quickly I got used to them. After the first few weeks, it'll likely g...

Re: Braces in a few weeks. My teeth are terrible.
Congratulations Nancy! I'm so happy for you!! I got my braces at the age of about 40 and I'm really glad that you are getting them much earlier. You'll be able to enjoy your new gorgeous smiles for many many years. Don't worry about those gaps, it's all temporary for a very long term investment. I f...

Life after braces - great!
A few years ago I got braces at the age of 40. I had always needed them and my crooked teeth were very noticeable. I was so scared to get braces, but you know what I didn't find it hardly as bad as I had anticipated - some discomfort at times but that's about it. I had them on for 2-1/2 years, but o...

Re: Braces off tomorrow.. and I'm seriously depressed :*(
I saw some imperfections when I first got my braces removed, but you know what, nobody else did! Bottom line is that my teeth look a million times better than before. I got used to the look of my teeth and now I just love them.

Be proud of yourself!
Please, please don't be embarassed by your braces. It's a wonderful thing that you are doing for yourself and your health, you have every right to be proud! I had clear on the top and they are less noticeable than the metal ones. However, people will notice something on your teeth, expecially up clo...

small overjet
I got my braces off recently. (The process was not bad at all if anyone's getting this done soon.) I do however have an overjet that a bit more than I thought it would be. I knew I would have one which would be slightly more than average, but I find it more noticeable than I thought it would be with...

I've had my braces for 1-1/2 years and was about 40 when I got them. They were long overdue as my croked teeth were very noticeable. My journey has been a wonderful one! I don't mind my braces at all. At my last visit, my ortho said we would discuss a schedule to take them off soon - and much to my ...

I had the same thing happen after a few months! I remember thinking, this isn't better!! Your teeth move around a bit until they get themselves aligned straight. The gap won't stay. Mine was gone in a few weeks. If you're really worried you can call your ortho and ask if it's anything you need to be...

I found the elastics hard to get use to as well, but one you were used to them they are fine. My understanding is that they are used to line up your bite and the top and bottom alignment. I'm sure your ortho would be happy to provide a quick explanation too. I find mine does not offer the info unles...

Have a chat with your dentist - and don't be shy about doing so. Also, sheduling a cleaning to clear out the build up. I'm sure that they'll be very happy to help you get back on track. Ask his or her opinion about braces. My teeth were not in the greatest shape either, and I got back on track and n...

Hang in there! It gets much much better. I've had my braces for 1-1/2 years and I don't mind them a bit now - it's been a pretty smooth journey. It's a big big adjustment at first - give your body some time to adjust. I remember being concerned about what you show in your pictures - but that gets be...

First and foremost, congrats on your braces! Don't worry things get better and better with time. I remember feeling that very same way - give yourself some time and take it slow and gradual. Soup to scrambled eggs, pancakes, to pasta then you'll be moving into all your normal foods after a few weeks...

A great floss threader!
I finally found a great floss threader! It's called Bridgeaid. You can get it on the Dentakit site www.dentakit.com, or if you want a smaller amount you can order it directly from their site at www.flossaid.com. I ordered a couple of envelopes with 50 in each - they were only $4 each and shipping wa...
