Wow!!! I cant get over how many veggies are on this board. I started when I was 8 and fell off the wagon for a year or two in college (ate a little chicken here and there). I guess total I have been a vegetarian for 15 years. My boyfriend makes the joke that I am the worlds chubbiest vegetarian sinc...

Hi Clo, I think the shock of everything has worn off a little so I am my clear headed self again. The new ortho said that my current dentist isnt doing any harm since I am still in the phase where he is aligning teeth (16 months later!!!!) and I only owe him $200 more dollar with little chance of ge...

Hi Clo,

Did you have to pay all over again? I am starting to go through this process and I am ready to cringe at the thought of 11k total on braces and of course the 4 years of my life :)

Dr. J I went to see a RO

Hi Dr J., I went to see a real ortho and she thinks it is going to be another 30 months plus surgery and possibly extractions (in addition to the 16 months I have already spent). She didnt think that my dentist messed up anything, but that in order to get things perfect it is going to be a lot longe...

Hi Teigyr, Thanks for the info. Are you having your surgery done in Seattle? I would love to know where other people in the area are going. I do know someone that went to Overlake in Bellevue a few weeks ago and she didnt have any problems post surgery. Also, are you having anything cosmetic done in...

Update

Here is my update... I am going to a RO tomorrow morning for a freebie consultation. I think this ortho's husband is the one that I booked my May surgical consultation so it is definately a small world. I didnt even have a chance to talk to my dentist on Friday since his assistant double booked him....

How difficult was it to get preauthorization?

Hi,

Has anyone had a bad or good experience getting preauthorization? I currently have Premera Blue Cross if that helps.

THanks,

Alyssa

Do you have them on the front ones only or all your teeth? If you only have them on your front teeth, I wouldnt worry about treatment time since you wont be hooking elastics to most of those teeth. If you really do hate them, I dont see the harm in asking for new brackets. The only thing to keep in ...

To Clo:

Hi Clo, Thank you for your kind words. This all started when my coworker's wife had her jaw "fixed". I was so amazed by her results since she has a similar problem. Now I know it can be done and I am not going to deal with the maybes and compromises. If my dentist is willing to set up ever...

Hello Dr. J, Thank you for answering my post. I didnt mean to open a can of worms with my question. I went to my current dentist because he markets himself as a TMJ specialist which is what was bothering me in the first place. He isnt a licensed Ortho and that is probably the root of the problem. I ...

Going behind my ortho's back?

Hi, I was hoping you could help me. I opted to have my dentist do my braces but I am 15 months into treatment and not happy with my results. My previous dentist had recommended a surgical consult so I am really surprised that this dentist said I didnt need it. But he keeps talking about the limitati...

I would normally think this is funny except that I have a kitten with the worst teeth I have ever seen. We got him at 7 weeks and his adult teeth erupted before his baby teeth fell out. Our vet told us to give it a month and eventually they did fall out. Unfortunately now, at 8 months old,his fangs ...
