Glad it is not too bad. It is a happy day when that comes out! How many mm do you have to move? Just be aware that it might start to irritate the palate as you get close to it being ready to come out. If you feel any pain or soreness on the palate, get thee to the ortho fast. They might loosen it sl...

It's actually not that hard to speak with it. I had very little trouble. The appliance should NOT get too tight. If you feel any pain around the roof of your mouth, have your ortho look at it. As your teeth move the appliance might get tighter. It's not that horrible, even though it seems like it. Y...

I had this after my braces were removed. It didn't happen often, but when it did I noticed it. It eventually went away after a long time but I never had it before braces.

Closing Loop

Can anyone tell what might be a normal timeframe for having a closing loop? Is one year considered a long time?

Retainer Brite will work for me if I use it every day and lightly brush the retainers. I ordered a huge supply since I use it all the time. Brushing alone does basically nothing.

It can take up to a year to have teeth settle. My bite improved a bit around the 8th month after debanding. I have had it checked several times during that period and the bite definitely changed from the point of debanding. When I was first debanded I had jaw popping for a month or two and that has ...

I have this problem with my upper hawley. Ugh. I need to use retainer brite every day to keep it under control. I have no idea why this happens, I used to have a retainer before this new one and it never happened to that one. Maybe the material used? The lower hawley isn't as bad with build up but t...

I hate those essix nightguards. They aren't any match for sharp points on teeth.

You won't notice the crown after about a week. It will feel just like your other teeth. I think they have made great improvements in root canals from many years ago. I am sure they can be done in only a couple vists and with minimal discomfort. Do you think the hawley might irritate the amalgam? Is ...

Your teeth have a memory and want to return to the place they were before the braces! I think the retainer limits the movement but I bet there is some relapse for everyone, just different degrees of relapse. I know if my retainer is out all day it fits very snuggly when I put it in at night. Unbelie...

Oh Colleen - I had to bite down on the wax thing as well, I truly thought my tooth was coming out, it took a long time to get one bracket off. I guess they used a TON of heavy duty cement, I hever lost a bracket or band the entire time I was braced. Nothing ever got loose either..but those ceramics ...

cleaning retainers

My retainer gets deposits on it even though I brush it and use retainer brite. If I didn't use the retainer brite, I would never get the darn things clean. Anyone else have this problem?

I'm trying to remember when I had closing loops but I think they became smaller. They work very fast! I was done with them I believe within a couple of months.
