Re: Midline -upper and lower- are off after surgery
do NOT let it go! you are paying for the ODs services! My midlines were off and i made sure they were on before my braces came off...you went through too much now to start compromising!

Re: New here, have anxiety/doubts about my surgery!!!!!!!!!!
i had ALL the same procedures done as you, down to 8mm expansion through SARPE. followed by 1 year later BSSO, lefort I, and genio. search my name and you will find some info and before/after pix. it will be worth it in the end!

Re: removal of plates
generally, the plates are never removed unless a problem exists. i have (had) 7 plates and 31 screws from my surgery. however, one screw (we thought) was quite visible in my lower jaw when i opened my mouth. it was round and protruding quite clearly. the surgeon decided to take it out since it's my ...

banded shut
once again, i feel like i got the shaft on all of this surgery stuff... i was not banded when i woke up, which was a surprise, but the next afternoon they got me good! i was heavily banded at all times besides eating and cleaning for 8 weeks after lefort I, bsso, genio. Then i wore some sort of conf...

RPE
I wore my RPE for an ENTIRE YEAR after my SARPE, to the day!...AND the ortho wanted to leave it in for the second surgery, if it "wasn't in the way" of what he needed to do. Thank god the surgeon called the ortho and told him to take it out, otherwise I think I'd still be wearing the damn ...

bite
I don't see how your bit could be fixed without surgery because it looks like your upper jaw is narrower than your lower jaw. The only way to fix this is a SARPE in order for your lower jaw to fit into your upper. This would probably fix the aesthetics of your "sunken cheeks". It also look...

wondering...
i have had bad sinus pressure, several sinus infections, vertigo, even nauseous to the point of throwing up ever since surgery 2 years ago. I also have upper plates and screws. I think I am going to ask my surgeon about this when I see him this summer for a final look at everything since I just got ...

chin sticking out?
i used to stick my lower jaw out on purpose to "give it a little boost" since it was just like yours. did you? after surgery and even now sometimes, i catch myself tensing my face and sticking my jaw out a bit as an old habit. look closely at your last pic. it looks lie you are forcing you...

changes *PIX*
As I said before, I am almost 2 years post-op and believe that really only my eyes are the same pre-surgery. Though, I also sometimes still think that my chin sticks out too far or whatever, I know it is just because of the dramatic difference and that my face is balanced and I am blessed because of...

chin
i understand what you mean by thinking your chin is too prominent after surgery. i had a genio along with lower jaw advancement (22mm in all!!!) soo, weird as it sounds, sometimes i acutally wonder, is my chin too far out, but in pix and profile it is PERFECT! i had my second surgery, yeah 2 for me,...
