To move the molars back. There are alternatives (usually more expensive) tho.

I'll stick with my headgear if my ortho lets me...the first week was awful. I'm still sore from time to time but it's okay...I'm getting used to the pain now and I can feel my molars move (after eight weeks in headgear).

I've had eight extractions (4 wisdom teeth, 4 first bicuspids). My profile will definitely change, so far I haven't noticed much difference because my upper molars must be moved back first, only then my upper front teeth will be taken care of. I really hope I'm not gonna regret this. My orthodontist...

Pessimistic (me): around 31...optimistic: 28.

I guess my ortho just wanted to cheer me up by telling me it *could* only take around 1 and a half years.

Yup, let him go...obviously he wasn't the right one. You're the one who must live with braces but you're also the one who will have lovely teeth afterwards...and braces aren't a big deal, really...I've had them before (for five years), you'll get used to it and so will all the people around you, esp...

I have about the same as you just a little worse (I assume) because I lost eight perfectly healthy teeth...I don't know if there is any other way, I suppose it would require surgery and as I don't want surgery I'm okay with having eight of my teeth yanked.
