To move the molars back. There are alternatives (usually more expensive) tho.

I'll stick with my headgear if my ortho lets me...the first week was awful. I'm still sore from time to time but it's okay...I'm getting used to the pain now and I can feel my molars move (after eight weeks in headgear).

I've had eight extractions (4 wisdom teeth, 4 first bicuspids). My profile will definitely change, so far I haven't noticed much difference because my upper molars must be moved back first, only then my upper front teeth will be taken care of. I really hope I'm not gonna regret this. My orthodontist...

Pessimistic (me): around 31...optimistic: 28.

I guess my ortho just wanted to cheer me up by telling me it *could* only take around 1 and a half years.
Last time I was in braces for five years so I'm expecting the worst.

Yup, let him go...obviously he wasn't the right one. You're the one who must live with braces but you're also the one who will have lovely teeth afterwards...and braces aren't a big deal, really...I've had them before (for five years), you'll get used to it and so will all the people around you, esp...

Thank you. :-) I will stick with my headgear (already paid and much cheaper than a pendulum from what I've heard) and tell my ortho that I've noticed a slight gap between my teeth. She couldn't see it and thought there wasn't any movement just yet... I don't wanna rush things - I'm just not keen on ...

Thanks a lot, no, she's just talked about headgear and pendulum. I haven't asked about other methods tho. Erm, there will be space for my front teeth to move into because I'm gonna have two premolars extracted before I'm getting my upper braces. I should discuss that with her next time, maybe there ...

Headgear not as powerful as Pendulum appliance?

I've had my headgear for three weeks now. Today I had an appointment with my orthodontist to see if it's working the way it's supposed to... Obviously it doesn't. I have worn my headgear 24/7! I swear, I didn't go anywhere during the weekends and I generally stay home all day long, it doesn't make m...

I had eight teeth removed and I told my dentist I want to keep them (I think I did it after the first yanking, later he always remembered that I wanna take them with me). Actually, I don't feel attached to them but I think I will have some sort of necklace made of them...just to remind me. It's quit...

I have about the same as you just a little worse (I assume) because I lost eight perfectly healthy teeth...I don't know if there is any other way, I suppose it would require surgery and as I don't want surgery I'm okay with having eight of my teeth yanked.

Two extractions doesn't sound bad to me...

When I got my first braces off, my teeth did not look good at all (my jaws are too small, my teeth are generally too big and my old ortho didn't extract any of them). He left me with a huge huge overbite, I didn't have it before but I didn't care much...until my wisdom teeth came in. That's where it...

Hi Kirsten,

my real name is Kerstin btw. :-)

Hmm, braces really aren't that bad, but healthy teeth are even better. Hope we're both gonna get them eventually.

26 year old German girl, gettin braced for a second time :-D

Hi there 8) My name's Kerry, I'm from South Germany. I had braces for five years but unfortunately the results weren't very satisfying in the first place. A couple of months ago my wisdom teeth came in, now it's getting worse month by month so I decided to kill my pension plan in order to get my tee...
