It was frightening to see the photos, but the absolute worst was when he showed me my molds. Wow!
Now he brings the mold out at each adjustment to show me how much progress I've made. I sort of look forward each time to seeing how bad it was, and getting to compare that to my current state!

Sidewinders/ Springs
I went in for my adjustment today and my ortho attached something new to a few of my brackets. He had to run out of the room before I was able to ask what they were, and the assistant was a new girl and was sorta clueless. Ortho referred to them as both "springs" and "sidewinders"...

I don't go ANYWHERE without a tube of Burts Bees. I've got little stashes of tubes everywhere! I also use gloss by C.O. Bigelow Apothecaries. For a gloss, it lasts a really long time. They have it in many colors and flavors. (I favor the UltraMint... which gives a great tingle once you've put it on....

Vipers in Elastics!
Adjustment number four was today. All went relatively smoothly this time. I was suprised at the end of the appointment when the ortho hands me a mirror and says, "Watch closely, this is important. And you'll become quite good at this!" Turns out, it's time for elastics. He changed my wires...

Yesterday was my appointment for my second adjustment. It started off as a rough day to begin with, and by the end of my ortho visit, I was ready to bite someone's face off. :evil: Saturday afternoon while eating milk and cookies (very very soggy cookies) my lower left molar tube popped off. After a...

Uh oh... how huge of a problem is this?
So I'm eating milk and cookies today, and off pops my left lower buccal molar bracket!! :shock: And my ortho is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. I'm scheduled for an adjustment on Monday. So there's really nothing I can do until then. My question is, how much of a detriment is this to my treatment??...

I just went for my first adjustment today, and I really thought that more was going to happen. The ortho decided against fitting me with a stiffer archwire, and just changed my ligs. I was sort of bummed, as I had built myself up thinking that it was going to be a more involved appointment. I actual...

Progress Report 8-13-07
I went today for what was supposed to be my first adjustment. I'm both thrilled and disappointed with the outcome of my appointment. The ortho ended up deciding not to switch me to a stronger wire for 1 more month. I guess he believes that the one I've got on now is still making lots of progress, an...

I had all four of my very impacted wisdom teeth removed about 8 months ago. I've never been so terrified in all my life. All out bawling, shaking... the works. Silly me though, I knew I was going to one of the most sought after surgeons in my area. It also helped that he wanted to knock me completel...

Clicking/Popping??
I've read on here that a few of you experience "popping" or "clicking" associated with having braces. I'm hoping that what I'm experiencing today is the same thing, and that it's a normal part of the braces process and experience. My lower front teeth feel loose, and different wa...

Awwe, thanks everyone. Like I said, I don't like to complain about this stuff... I've wanted braces for such a long time, I don't feel like I should be complaining about the process. I asked for it. I like the way Tommy put it... I think it's the fear of pain that's actually worse for me. The tooth ...

Ouch =(....
I'm having trouble with just one tooth the past few days. I'm not sure why it started hurting over the past day or two. Mainly when I bite down or something like that. I've done the salt water rinses, and tried chewing on that particular tooth for a bit... but nothing seems to help. Ibuprofen takes ...
